Did you know the "Adopt-a-Highway" program originated in Texas? This nationwide initiative empowers volunteers to adopt sections of state-maintained roads for litter pickups. Since its launch in 1985, it has evolved into a global effort to combat littering and maintain clean roadways. As Texas experiences remarkable growth, our roads see more traffic, unfortunately leading to increased litter. While approximately 90% of highway litter is cleared by paid contractors, volunteer contributions significantly cut cleanup costs, ultimately saving taxpayers money. A big shout-out to everyone who has adopted a highway! Your efforts are truly making a meaningful impact.

What if your tumbler or cooler purchase could contribute toward giving a dog ?? AND a veteran ???? a second chance? There are so many dogs that deserve a second chance, which is one reason I love the mission behind Shelter to Soldier?— a non-profit organization that rescues dogs from local shelters and trains them to become service animals for post 9/11 combat veterans to help both recover and move forward. >>> So how can you help? While yes, you can give online directly, you can also make a few great promo swaps! ?? When you choose promo products from the Perka?, iWork?, and iCOOL? collections, a portion is donated to Shelter to Soldier. ?? ???? Are You aware of the NADA Foundation: A Valuable Resource for NADA Dealerships Affected by Floods We are all deeply saddened by the devastating impact of the recent floods that have hit many auto-truck dealerships across the country. We know that many of you have suffered significant losses of inventory, work time, and employees, and that the recovery process will be long and challenging. As a member of the automotive community we want to remind you that you are not alone in this difficult time. One of the many benefits of being an NADA Dealer is the access to the NADA Foundation, a charitable organization that supports the automotive industry and its communities. What is the NADA Foundation? The NADA Foundation was established in 1975 to provide educational and philanthropic programs that benefit the automotive industry and the public. The Foundation's mission is to invest in initiatives that enhance the image and reputation of dealers and the industry, promote career opportunities in automotive retailing, and support the well-being of dealership employees and their families. How can the NADA Foundation help dealerships affected by floods? One of the key programs of the NADA Foundation is the Emergency Relief Fund, which provides financial assistance to dealership employees who have been impacted by natural disasters. The Fund was created in 1992 in response to Hurricane Andrew, and since then has distributed more than $9 million to over 10,000 dealership employees and their families. The Emergency Relief Fund can help dealership employees who have suffered personal losses due to floods, such as damage to their homes, vehicles, or personal property. The Fund can provide grants of up to $1,500 per eligible employee, based on the severity of the need and the availability of funds. How can dealership employees apply for the Emergency Relief Fund? The application process for the Emergency Relief Fund is simple and confidential. Dealership employees who have been affected by floods can apply online at (https://lnkd.in/gNh3eDGk) scroll down till you see apply for assistance, click on "apply for assistance" or by calling 703-821-7102. The application requires basic information about the employee, the dealership, and the nature and extent of the losses.

Help create new flood-proof toilets When Norah needs to go to the toilet, she has to leave her home and walk to an outhouse that’s shared with other families. The toilet inside is a pit latrine. The floor and walls are green with … something. It floods often in Erakor Bridge, Vanuatu, where Norah lives. The high water table means it doesn’t take much before the contents of the toilet rise up and spill out. It’s smelly and dangerous.?? The Engineers Without Borders Australia team in Vanuatu is working with a bunch of problems. Erakor Bridge is low-lying, and surrounded almost entirely by a lagoon. To make matters worse, climate change is bringing more extreme storms and even cyclones to the area. It’s nothing for people here to be walking ankle-deep in water that’s full of E. coli. When the floodwaters abate, the ‘toilet water’ drains into local wells.?? The other challenge for the engineering team is that their toilet design must use locally-available products, and be cheap for people to make. Did we mention that there is only limited access to electricity or plumbing in Erakor Bridge? Engineers have been looking for solutions to managing water and human waste for a very long time. Will you consider a?donation here now?to help them crack this hygiene problem? Your tax-deductible gift before 30 June could help give Norah and her four children a safe, sanitary home toilet.? https://appeal.ewb.org.au/

According to data from the American Temperament Test Society (ATTS), Pit Bulls pass temperament tests 87.4% of the time. The ATTS is a national non-profit organization that performs examinations of dogs to determine their temperament. In order to pass the test, the animal cannot show panic, strong avoidance without recovery, or unprovoked aggression. Pit Bulls pass the test 87.4% of the time, according to their data. To put that in perspective, Golden Retrievers, a breed generally considered friendly and harmless, only pass the test 85.6% of the time. Now, this data does not guarantee that any individual animal will be trustworthy. However, it strongly indicates that unprovoked aggression is not an innate issue with Pit Bulls. Frankly Speaking: This is serious. It's time to help NC,FL, and GA, beyond the physical needs of food, water, and shelter. I have asked an extensive pharmacy network about accessibility to needed medications in NC. Although pharmacies may be open, getting refills to patients is a challenge in the rural areas of NC. Wait, most of the state is rural. Baxter, a leading supplier of medical supplies in NC, is out indefinitely. So are the workers. The supply chain nationally will have to compensate. I hope our leaders are paying attention to diabetic supplies. Hello, diabetic supplies. Advisors, think about your groups with high diabetic needs and get involved by asking questions about your region's supply chain needs. Others who are in the know, please share. https://lnkd.in/eJ8XCH5p Forget mail order. Repeat, forget mail in general. It ain't happening. Great companies are donating resources on site like Sam's. Communities are rallying. How about walking in or air drops by chopper. I'm not kidding. Take a look at the YT videos and you will be amazed. Some places the roads are gone. Gone. My church shared this link on how we can help those in NC. A private "airforce" of citizens with helicopters (35 as of yesterday) is being organized, not only the Nat. Guard, to assist with drops/evacs. If you want to "adopt" a community, Consider helping at GiveSendGo. Comment below if you have a favorite org. I don't do FB or Instagram so I can imagine how many others are posting. I want to help. Hope you can too. Cristy Gupton Mitigate Partners Joe Nelson Mark Lawther Russell H.
