We’ve come a long way since people were manually spray coating panel edges. Smartedge is an advanced, automatic vacuum coating system which sands and coats all types of panel edges. Today, we have implemented yet another patented evolution to this system, enabling energy savings and reducing the overall footprint of the equipment. Moreover, it allows you to use cheaper MDF and to improve edge quality by eliminating any small holes. So how does it work? We have designed a special head which applies wet-on-wet 100% UV lacquer, and which perfectly seals the edge using a scraper blade between the 2 applications. One application head instead of two means less occupied floorspace. Depositing high grammage (from 100 to 200 g/m2) means that 3 applications count for 5 coats if they were done using standard heads. This means 20-25% energy savings compared to a standard vacuum coater performing 4 applications. And you can safely use less expensive MDF panels.
