What would you do if you spotted a safety hazard at work? The importance of a Stop Work culture cannot be overstated. It's a safety net that empowers every team member to take immediate action if they perceive a risk to health, safety, or the environment. When leaders embrace a Stop Work culture, they send a clear message: our people are our priority. Angela Serra's story below is an important reminder why a Stop Work culture matters and why every individual should feel empowered to have #StopWorkAuthority - it also highlights the consequences that can follow when safety is not a No.1 priority. As you read Angela's story, here are a few key Stop Work moments to keep in mind: ?? There is doubt over the safety of an operation. ?? There is likelihood of injury to personnel or damage to the environment. ?? Control of hazards is not clearly established and understood. #MakeSafetyPersonal #BakerHughes #WeAreBakerHughes #Safety #HSE #SafetyFirst #WorkplaceSafety
Senior Technical Advisor, Emissions @ Baker Hughes | Sustainability PhD | Sector Standard Writing Team @ EFRAG
In my career I have been working in several different companies. When I was a student, I had a summer job as a worker in a tile factory. Time was money. One day, to save maintenance time and money, an operator removed safety protection from the packaging machine I was assigned to with a colleague. My colleague got stuck in the machine and lost one finger. For this accident she was accused by the company to be lazy. I lost faith in that company. Now I work for Baker Hughes, it is not perfect, but here I feel supported and free to speak if something wrong happens, I have #stopwork authority. I trust my company and my colleagues that people's safety is everyone's priority. And for me safety isn't just a priority, is a promise to myself and to my colleagues, is a way of living, trying to be a model for my "children". #Makesafetypersonal #WeAreBakerTughes

???? Enhancing Safety and Efficiency: Pre-Lift Check Card Implementation At the Borr Drilling Natt, I had the privilege of mediating an onboard meeting with our dedicated deck members and supervisors. We gathered to introduce a crucial new tool: the Pre-Lift Check Card. This initiative, designed to heighten our situational awareness and ensure safety before any cargo lift, is a significant step towards enhancing our operational efficiency and crew protection. Our session was marked by a collaborative spirit as we delved into the critical components of the Pre-Lift Check Card. Each step was discussed in detail, with everyone's insights and concerns being voiced. This collaborative approach not only provided a comprehensive understanding but also solidified our shared commitment to safety. Key Takeaways: 1. Enhanced Awareness: The Pre-Lift Check Card ensures that all team members are on the same page, minimizing risks associated with lifting operations. 2. Clear Communication: By standardizing our checks, we streamline communication and reduce the likelihood of errors. 3. Safety First: Prioritizing safety protects our crew and enhances our overall performance and reliability. A big thank you to all participants for their engagement and valuable contributions. Your dedication to continuous improvement and safety is truly commendable. Let's continue to work together, stay vigilant, and lift safely! ??????
