I wrote this during Covid in 2020... Top Ten Do's and Don'ts for America's Rookie Truck Drivers... 10. Don't smile and wave at the cell phone cameras while the wrecker crew is letting the air out of your tires to get you from underneath the low overpass. 9. Look out for and flip off a State Trooper or Highway Patrol when you are hijacked with a gun pointed at you. 8. Never expect the truck stop to have in stock any of that "blinker fluid" your trainer sent you in to purchase. 7. To get the actual weight restriction in pounds, always multiply the road and bridge tonnage restrictions by 2, not 4, not 3, 5 is right out! 6. You are not in a Mad Max movie... oh and shut the movie off while you are driving! Definite DON'T. 5. Just because the voice on the GPS tells you to cross the lake on that historic, covered walking bridge... Common sense should prevail. 4. Some of the 70's Trucker CB lingo has changed it's meaning. "driver" is how you address the other person on the CB. It's gender neutral and a safe way to respect your fellow truck drivers. "Good Buddy" will get you more attention than you might be looking for... 3. Center Lane and 60 is a sure fire way to get a lot of attention by your fellow truckers. They will not be commending you for your courage to go against the grain... 2. G.O.A.L. means "get out and look" not "go on and listen" till you hear a crunch. and the number one Rookie American Trucker do and don't is... Don't put the beer keg with the sippie straw in the tractor with you in between the seats. Most companies and jurisdictions frown on such behaviors within their respective establishments. #truckersafety #driver #truckdriver #topten

According to the National Safety Council (NSC), an estimated 418 people may die on U.S. roads this 2024 Memorial Day holiday period. This year’s fatality estimate is 11% lower than last year’s estimate.
