As we enjoy the Thanksgiving break, it’s a good time to remember the importance of setting a clear out-of-office message for anyone trying to reach you while you’re offline. Here’s a quick, friendly guide to help: 1?? Start with a warm greeting: Hi there! 2?? Mention your current availability: I’m out of the office for Thanksgiving break and will return on [insert return date]. 3?? Set clear expectations: During this time, I’ll have limited access to emails and messages. 4?? Provide an alternative contact (if needed): For urgent matters, please reach out to [backup contact and their details]. 5?? Wrap up with a friendly note: I’ll respond as soon as I can when I’m back. Wishing you a joyful and relaxing Thanksgiving! Make it your own, and don’t forget to enjoy the break! ??

If you aren't planning your Thanksgiving roll-out already, then you are behind. Your competitors (other families) have identified their blockers and aligned each member of the team by now. Thanksgiving in my house is all about leveraging technology and brands to create the ideal consumer experience. Every family member at the table experiences a custom B2C flow based on their individual profile. I do extensive research and build user personas of everyone attending. If you're still stuck on the micro, you're missing the macro of the meal. I'm combining the gratitude of the holiday with proven, industry-leading strategies to form a plan that I call my Thanksgiving 'Grategy'. What are your Thanksgiving objectives?

Why is Thanksgiving the best holiday? It's not the turkey. Not the football. Not even the pumpkin pie. (Although these are great) It's the time I get to spend with my family. Working in sales, my phone usually never stops. Emails flood in. Slack pinging endlessly. But from Wednesday afternoon through Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend, something magical happens: The business world goes quiet. No emails. No urgent requests. No deals demanding attention. Just pure, uninterrupted time with family. Even on "vacation," work followed me everywhere. But Thanksgiving was different. In my household, we have a tradition. We always do a fun activity. Now my kids are grown, and those quiet moments mean even more. Thanksgiving taught me something powerful: Sometimes the greatest gift isn't what we gain. It's what we let go. The never-ending notifications. The "always-on" attitude. The constant hustle. For four days, we remember what matters most: Being grateful. Being present. Being human. What's your favorite part of Thanksgiving? Drop it below ??

If you celebrated Thanksgiving this past weekend, you likely observed that most people tend to talk at you, not to you... draining your battery like a phone toasting in the sun. And if you read that and thought, "hmm, I didn't notice that..." well, you're likely one of those people -- sometimes known as "a talker." So with more holidays on the horizon, here's a quick, "How to not talk at someone, Turkey edition." 1. ?? Before a chat, think of 1 thing you want to learn from the other person or ask them about. 2.??Actually listen to what they have to say. The only way this works is if there's something you genuinely want to learn or hear about from them. And if you don't actually care, at least toss in a few head nods and a clarifying question. 3.?If while speaking, you realize the other person didn't ask you a question, you're likely talking at them and they're likely looking for a way out of the convo. Wrap up what you're saying and give a pause -- if they say something like, "that's great," you've been talking at them big time. TL:DR 1. Be curious about something 2. Actually listen 3. Be self-aware of rambling Anyone else make a similar observation during Thanksgiving?

?? Thanksgiving is still a pretty new concept for me, but I love the idea behind it—taking a moment to pause and feel grateful for the good things in life. It’s so easy to get caught up in work, stress, or just the day-to-day rush that we forget to notice the little things that make us happy. Recently, I started this simple habit: every night, I write down 5 good things from my day (I use a messaging app on my phone). They don’t have to be big—just moments that made me smile or feel good. Like a great working session where everything clicked, a 1:1 meeting that boosted my focus, a nice walk in the morning, a tasty lunch, or even finishing a good book. It’s been helping me teach my brain to enjoy the little things in life, even on the busiest, most stressful days. And honestly, it’s such a good way to end the day—it reminds me that there’s always something to be grateful for, no matter what. So, as Thanksgiving gets closer, I want to share this habit with you. Try it out—write down 5 good things from your day, even if they seem small. It’s amazing how much those small moments can add up when you take the time to notice them. Wishing you all a happy Thanksgiving season! ??

Top 3 Tips for a Stress-Free Thanksgiving Break ?? As Thanksgiving approaches, here are three ways to prepare so you can truly unwind and enjoy the holiday with loved ones: Prioritize & Wrap Up: Make a list of what absolutely needs to be done before you leave. Delegate tasks as needed, and remember, it doesn’t all have to be done today! Completing essentials will make the break feel much sweeter. Set Boundaries with Gratitude: Let your team know you’ll be offline and share any important contacts for emergencies. Set an out-of-office message to manage expectations and keep everyone informed. Plan a Smooth Return: Block a bit of time on your first day back for catching up, whether it’s reviewing emails or having a quick team check-in. A little planning now means less stress later. Wishing you a restful Thanksgiving! Time to savor each moment and focus on what matters most. ?? #ThanksgivingBreak #UnplugAndReconnect #HolidayPrep

Family, Gratitude, and the Essence of Thanksgiving ?? Thanksgiving has always been a time for reflection, for counting our blessings, and most importantly, for coming together with the people who matter most—our families. In a world that often moves too fast, Thanksgiving offers us the chance to pause, share a meal, and create cherished memories with loved ones. It’s a reminder of the power of connection, love, and the importance of being present with one another. The warmth of a home filled with laughter, good food, and shared stories is something we carry with us long after the holiday ends. This year, why not add a new layer of excitement and joy to your Thanksgiving celebration? Start a new tradition with fireworks! ?? Just imagine gathering your family outdoors, under the stars, and lighting up the night with a spectacular fireworks display—a fun and meaningful way to bring even more light and celebration into the holiday. Thanksgiving wasn't just my mom's favorite holiday...it was her holiday. Knowing how to bring the color and vibe of a Midwestern fall inside, she created magic at this time of year that is almost impossible to describe. Everyone was welcome and new friends quickly became old friends. The menu had the same feeling. Old favorites. New twists. Always a surprise thrown in there. And ever since losing her 12 years ago...my Thanksgiving groove has been off. I have done my best to recreate the meal (and family favorites). We have tried the beach holiday (definitely not the same vibe). We have traveled to be with family and friends (a good blended option). And while I could be bummed about not getting to have my mom's Thanksgiving anymore...I do get: 1. Time with my kids where we listen to her favorite folk rock playlists and remember all the good stuff. 2. The ability to practice (and teach my kids about) being flexible with our plans, approach, and expectations. 3. A new perspective on why I love this holiday so much. Cooking is my happy place. This meal is one of my favorites. But it is the people and conversations that make it memorable. My invitation is to make the holiday yours. Embrace your traditions, and make some new ones. And pause to look around and be present for the conversations, connections, and moments with those around you. #BizDeb
