Attend a ballet performance. ?? Start your masterpiece. ?? Teach someone how to play an instrument. ?? Attend an art lecture. ?? Explore a new technique. ?? See an inspirational film. ?? Someone asked me what type of choreographer I am and what style of dance I choreograph? Honestly, I couldn’t give them a straight answer—I don’t see myself as limited to any one style. To me, choreography is about discovering the narrative, feeling, or journey that lies at the heart of a piece. Once you uncover that, it’s about figuring out the movement language to bring it to life. That language could be anything— ballroom, ballet, musical theatre, or hip hop —depending on the story, music, and purpose. The process is the same: building sequences, shaping dynamics, playing with textures, and using choreographic devices to craft something meaningful and interesting. Being a choreographer, to me, is about versatility. The ability to turn your hand to any style or adapt to any request is essential in this industry. The more versatile you are, the more you can collaborate across genres, innovate, and stay relevant. True artistry lies in breaking boundaries and embracing the limitless possibilities of movement. #Choreographer #london #dance #Creative

Many companies have started offering sensory-friendly and relaxed performances. The approach and measures taken vary slightly from one company to another, but they all strive to create a safe and welcoming environment for people whose anxiety; neurodiversity; intellectual, mental, or multiple disabilities; and neurological disorders like Alzheimer’s disease or Tourette syndrome make it difficult to sit still and quiet. These performances make big impacts on audiences and dancers alike. When creating competition routines, the health and safety of young dancers should be a top priority. Definitions of “age-appropriate” choreography vary widely across the competitive-dance scene. How have you approached this issue in your own choreography? Share your experiences in the comments. Here, learn 3 keys to creating age-appropriate competition routines, as well as some tips for judges: https://lnkd.in/enjmywWj ?? : Woodbury Dance Center Inc students in a piece choreographed by Jessie James, Katia Bode, and Faith Wlaschin.
