Last month, I had the incredible opportunity to intern at Lognext, a technological consulting firm that works with prestigious clients such as Securitas Direct, BNP Paribas, Inditex, and Mutua Madrile?a. During my time at Lognext, I gained invaluable insights into both the operations and financial departments. Here are some key highlights: ?? Financial Department: I was able to participate in the workings of the financial department, attending daily meetings and understanding the intricacies of the team's strategies. Three major takeaways from this experience were: - Budget vs. Actual Comparison: Always compare everything with the budget to ensure financial health. - Margin vs. Markup: Understanding the critical difference between these two concepts. - Data Analysis: The importance of always analysing the data for informed decision-making. ??? Operations Department: In the operations department, I had the chance to observe the selection process, learn how to attract new clients and consultants, and participate in daily meetings. I also saw how interviews work from the employer's perspective. My top three takeaways here were: - Continuous Improvement: Always strive for continuous improvement in every process. - Client Relationship Management: The significance of maintaining strong client relationships and the techniques for client retention. - Holistic Perspective: The importance of viewing situations from different angles and thoroughly analysing all perspectives. Overall, my internship at Lognext was incredibly enriching. I actively participated in daily meetings, observed team dynamics, and learned from experienced professionals. This experience provided me with a deeper understanding of how a technological consulting firm operates, particularly in both the operations and financial departments. I gained valuable practical knowledge and skills that will undoubtedly benefit my future career. ? April marked the start of new beginnings, but also the end of an adventure ?? Over the last 12 months, I’ve been working as a business developer for Closing Company. Where this started with doing sales calls and generating thousands of leads for numerous projects, I soon started taking on different responsibilities as well. One of the highlights of my time at Closing Company was the creation of a centralised database using Google Apps Script, consolidating live data from over 20 projects. This initiative not only streamlined operations, but also paved the way for insightful analyses through our "Operations Dashboard", allowing for decision-making with data-driven insights on project progress, employee performance, and KPIs. ???? I want to thank Diede Schuring and Rachel Hotman for their continued support and trust in me. Miguel Afoichini for the challenges we overcame together and the incredible results, the dashboard, we have to show for it. Finally, I can’t forget Danique Hekkema for showing me the ropes early on. At #Greto, Patrycja works as a Customer Service and Logistics Specialist. She supports you in finalizing formalities and ensures that the goods efficiently reach you. If you encounter any challenges, Patrycja will take care of resolving the issue smoothly. ?? A few questions for Patrycja: What surprised you the most at #Greto? P: I've been at Greto almost from the beginning, so I can say that the familial atmosphere here is constant. You can talk to anyone about anything. You want to get up in the morning and just come to the office :) There's no room for boredom or monotony, something is always happening! Did you face any obstacles when you started working, and how did you overcome them? P: Greto is my first job where I feel I've really developed! I've honed my skills in communication and crisis management. I also participate in creating our CRM system, and I feel that I've contributed to the company’s development. What motivates you to work? P: The atmosphere, which I haven’t found in other places where I did internships. Coming to the office, you can always count on others. You're never left alone with any problems or questions. At Greto, you can count on everyone. What do you think distinguishes Greto from other companies? P: It stands out with its atmosphere, approach to work, and customers. I’m so excited that we’ll be hiring 20 engineering interns to Wolt's Helsinki office in the coming months! ?? ?? (along with some positions in Berlin, Stockholm, and Estonia). Hopefully some of our future 2025 interns were part of the Tietokilta event we hosted yesterday. It was a great evening of career discussions, sharing advice, and connecting with the amazing Tietokilta community. Special thanks to Oskari J?rvinen, a Tietokilta veteran who joined our courier product development team just a few months ago through a junior engineer campaign, for sharing his insights. A big shoutout to another Tietokilta legend Henri Tunkkari for being a fantastic host ?? During the event, I was asked an important question: "Why to hire interns?" It’s simple: providing opportunities to talented individuals taking their first steps in the industry is incredibly rewarding. But beyond that, our results speak for themselves. Since we started hiring engineering interns in 2018, so many of them have grown into some of Wolt’s top-performing engineers, making a real impact in areas like search engineering and logistics. Many of them are now helping to hire and mentor the next generation of interns and junior engineers, paying it forward in the best possible way. That's how I think great teams are built: by pairing top-tier engineers with passionate interns and junior engineers eager to seize their chance to shine.
