Starting a new job has made me appreciate even more those who move to a new city for work. Adjusting to a new place without family support is tough. On top of that, dealing with family expectations and worries about future growth can be overwhelming. Relocating means facing many challenges: getting used to a new environment, managing work and personal life, and coping with the emotional strain of being far from home. It also involves building new connections, finding local resources, and making a new city feel like home. While these challenges are significant, they also offer chances for personal and professional growth. Moving to a new city can be difficult, but it’s a chance to learn, adapt and grow in ways you might not expect.

We are Alejandro Giordano and my wife, Graciana Scognamillo, and we are facing a critical moment in our lives. We want to share our story in the hope of finding support. How You Can Help: Any financial support, no matter how small, would be a great relief. We are struggling to cover basic expenses while searching for stable employment. Who We Are: Alejandro: I have over 25 years of experience in the aviation industry, specializing in flight coordination, aircraft operations, and dispatch. I help people connect with their creativity and healing through art. Our Current Challenge: Since moving to Spain, we’ve encountered age discrimination and job barriers due to the lack of formal qualifications, despite our extensive experience. We are now looking for new opportunities outside Spain to start fresh, but we need resources to make this transition possible. It's official: I ditched the 9-to-5 and took a giant leap to sunny Australia! ?????? After years feeling stuck in a rut, I craved an adventure that pushed me outside my comfort zone. BUUUT with more and more companies looking to reinforce hybrid work schedules, it’s wise to consider the possibility of relocating for work. And I’ll just flat out say it, I was able to accomplish my move in the thick of the night because I was ???????????????? to relocate rather than simply being ???????????????? to relocate....? ? Below are a few tips to keep in mind when looking at opportunities outside of your local area so that you're prepared to move with ease!

Many of you are aware, I have spent the last 3 weeks working remotely, from Italy.?My wife’s dream has been to spend more time here and now that we are “empty nesters” we are taking full advantage. I am so grateful for a job that gives me the flexibility to work from anywhere.?As long as I have my computer, phone and a good internet connection I can effectively do my work.?This flexibility is a top priority for me. It’s important for each of us to take the time to consider what our priorities are when it comes to work.?And, we should do this regularly because oftentimes, over the course of our career, these priorities change. - Is money your priority? - Is location flexibility your priority? - Would you prefer to manage a large team or work as an individual contributor? - Are you more effective going into an office each day? Take the time to really assess what your priorities are so that you can adequately assess your next opportunity. Side note: ?Although my wife will be here for another two weeks, I fly home tomorrow.?It’s been a wonderful trip, but I am looking forward to getting back.

Excuse me, I said to a stranger who had just walked to the bus station, could you please direct me to this location? After moving to Canada, I found myself lost and wandering in circles on a cold, lonely street??. I questioned my decision to travel, feeling unsure and confused. Approaching a stranger at the bus station, I asked for directions, showing him the Google map on my phone. He gladly helped, and I found my way. Now, I can navigate Google Maps well, though I still get confused sometimes. Looking back, I laugh at myself. We all go through changes, learn new things, and face situations that make us question our choices and feel scared. Even when we're moving in circles, without clear direction, and feeling lonely, sometimes all we need is that "one person to talk to who can help us out." Like the stranger who guided me, having someone to turn to can make all the difference. Sometimes, all we need is perseverance to make it through so that when we look back, we can laugh at ourselves and appreciate our journey.
