?? The Legacy of Black Hospitals in the South ?? Many Black hospitals across the South were crucial in providing culturally responsive care, especially during segregation. Flint-Goodridge Hospital, once a well known hospital in the New Orleans Black community, is one of many that have shut down throughout the years around the country, leaving a ripple effect of lack of access to care and a lack of diverse providers to areas that greatly need both. As we reflect on the history of these institutions, it’s a reminder of the importance of equitable healthcare and the need to address the disparities that continue to exist.
