As a remote Internal CRA, I know the importance of staying connected to the heartbeat of a clinical trial. One tool that's been my secret weapon? The wonderful: Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs) ??. (try not to ??, I swear they can be gold if used in a constructive way) Here are a few tips I think will give the SOP some more street cred: 1?? Deep Dive, but Stay Current: Take the time to thoroughly read and understand each SOP. This knowledge is your armor in the field. But remember, SOPs are living documents... keep an eye out for updates and revisions. Being in the loop ensures you're always aligned with the latest standards and a good way to impress your boss. 2?? Integration with Daily Tasks: Make SOPs your compass in daily tasks. They guide you through processes, ensuring consistency and compliance every step of the way. Save a link to the SOPs in your favorites and make CRTL + F your best friend when needing to refer to specific language. 3?? Training and Development: Leverage SOPs for continuous learning. They're a goldmine for training and developing your skills, especially when working with team members across departments. It never hurts to refer to SOPs in different specialties to stay sharp and knowledgeable. 4?? Effective Communication: A quick copy and paste that references the SOP can set a foundation for clear communication within your team by creating a shared language and understanding. Remember, SOPs are not just guidelines; they are your roadmap to success in ensuring trial integrity and patient safety. Great communication, enthusiasm, and flexibility! 3.????This work is ??very similar to academic work?? and includes stuff like writing/revising educational materials, study protocols, IRBs & sections of grants, as well as data analysis (e.g., behavioral econ models, machine learning). ? HOWEVER?, this work is *far more* collaborative than is typical in the academic route! You will get to interact with medical doctors, behavioral health PhDs, software developers, and consultants with expertise in running clinical trials & FDA submissions. Where a senior academic role might involve independently developing grants/studies from the ground up, the roles at BEAM will involve incrementing and iterating on solid behavioral science, deployed through an existing software platform, within the framework of an established business model—working alongside a strong and supportive team!!! 4.????Don’t be intimidated by the industry jargon. If you have experience managing a grant (like an NIH F31 or F32) and/or some data analysis chops, reach out to BEAM! This company is growing fast, so it might be worth reaching out if some aspects of the job(s) seem like they might be a good fit. The BEAM team will provide the scaffolding you need to learn the job. 5.????Did I mention that the science is solid? BEAM is working to get behavioral health diagnostic software integrated into routine medical checkups. I’ve seen the numbers on how this diagnostic software performs, and it is impressive! ?
