Numbers don't support that statement. Infrastructure spending has been very consistent since 1980. Increased pretty dramatically in 2000, leveled off in 2006, increased from 2011 to 2015, then dropped until 2018, where it increased dramatically and stayed high into 2021 and then it dropped significantly and has stayed low since. https://lnkd.in/e782jQXH The nice thing about government spending, it's easy to find the numbers. We don't have to rely on someone's biased tweets

Make sure you are aware if your congresspeople actually voted yes on Biden’s Infrastructure package prior to giving them credit. It is easy to find out who voted for it- only 13 House Republicans voted for it (and should be given personal thanks) and 19 Republican Senators voted for it (also should be given thanks) and almost all Democrats voted yes. Research prior to thanking even when they take credit.
"Infrastructure Week" was a punchline under the Trump administration, but infrastructure means thousands of great local headlines under the Biden Administration ?? So many great headlines, in fact, that even Republican MAGA politicians who voted against important projects now are trying to take credit for them #DemocratsDeliver

This morning, George Mason's Gray Center published a paper I had the privilege of co-authoring with DJ Gribbin on the nationalization of transportation infrastructure. Local challenges require local solutions. Federalism, the force that has fostered our nation's durability and strengthened our communities is threatened by the national government's impulsive tendency to grasp responsibilities of a traditionally local nature. Among many other areas, the nationalization of America's infrastructure illustrates this dangerous trajectory and illuminates its hidden costs. Generating diminished quality, complex regulations, misaligned incentives, and inflation, centralizing the decision-making for America's infrastructure has not produced the anticipated results. America's infrastructure challenges are local and the best solutions will be achieved through local means.

Improving the #USA's critical infrastructure should be a bipartisan common goal. Unfortunately for reasons that are unclear, which make no sense, and which show an indifference to the the need for developing politically neutral infrastructure, some politicians are weaponizing the USA's ability to #futureproof its critical infrastructure. If we want to "Make America Great Again" responsible leaders need to step forward who won't block federal funding for infrastructure and then claim credit for initiatives that they voted against when they materialize. Hypocrisy reflects poor leadership which ignores the needs of all citizens of the USA. It benefits no one except for narrow interest groups who seem to be rather naive about projecting the USA's competitiveness in this century. Can you imagine where the USA would stand today if the national highway system was not passed and developed in the 1950's and 1960's? This POLITICO article illustrates the failure of bipartisan infrastructure policy. To read more about politicians who have failed their constituents click on the link below. It is time to reach out to the following politicians and ask them to be honest brokers: * Mariannette Miller-Meeks: Iowa District 1 * Nancy Mace: South Carolina District 1 * David Valadao: California District 22 * Michelle Steel for Congress: California District 45 https://lnkd.in/eV666X5h

**Lessons from the Red River Bridge War: Infrastructure and Inter-State Tensions** The historical Red River Bridge War of 1931 between Oklahoma and Texas underscores the complex nature of infrastructure conflicts, particularly when they involve strategic economic resources like river crossings. A major problem during this conflict was the struggle for control over bridge tolls and free crossings—an issue that pitted state interests against each other and escalated to military involvement. This incident serves as a reminder of how critical infrastructure can become a flashpoint for inter-state tensions when economic stakes are high. The resolution, which involved dissolving an injunction and lifting martial law, allowed the opening of a free bridge, benefiting the local economy by facilitating free passage across the Red River. Industry leaders can glean from this episode the importance of clear regulatory frameworks and collaboration between states to prevent similar conflicts. Given the potential for infrastructure to be both economically vital and politically contentious, how do you think current multi-state infrastructure projects can be managed to prevent such disputes?

?? With Donald Trump's recent electoral win, significant shifts loom on the horizon for U.S. transportation priorities. ???? The article highlights expected changes, including a stronger focus on traditional infrastructure projects like roads and bridges, possibly at the expense of public transit and green initiatives. This realignment could reshape funding streams and regulatory environments, influencing urban and rural mobility landscapes. Infrastructure development, long touted by Trump during his previous terms, will likely accelerate. Enhancements will be prioritized to accommodate growing vehicle usage and bolster economic growth through construction and associated jobs. However, this approach may sideline more progressive transportation policies aimed at sustainability and reducing the carbon footprint of mass transit. As entrepreneurs and industry leaders, we face both challenges and opportunities in this shifting policy landscape. Adaptability and strategic foresight will be crucial as we navigate potential reductions supporting innovative, eco-friendly transport solutions. Let's discuss the implications of these shifts and explore adaptive strategies.?? https://buff.ly/3OMqHqJ #TransportationPolicy #Infrastructure #SustainableMobility

My take on current government rhetoric about nature as a brake on economic development. We urgently need to change the nature and substance of the debate about nature and realize its value as critical infrastructure. https://lnkd.in/ekWiNvhZ
