For the third time, the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) has launched the lecture series Clean Energy & Power, in an effort to bring together participants and experts from diverse disciplines onto one platform. Coming from different fields, we are trained to approach and solve issues from varying perspectives. However, isolation within our own disciplines can lead to ??é?????????????????? ??????????????????????????????, where an expert may believe their solution is the best or only solution. ? In the third cohort of this lecture series, we have focused on avoiding this trap. The energy sector consists of various subsectors, and we need professionals with diverse expertise to move forward toward a green future. Relying solely on economists, engineers, or environmentalists is not sufficient for a clean and just energy transition. I intended to pursue it last year being the remaining course of the 8 courses offered by Climate Compatible Growth #CCG, but unfortunately, a lot happened. ???????? ???????????? ???????????? ?????????? ???????????????????? ???????????? ???????????????? ?????? ?????? ???? ?????????? ???????? ?????????????????????????????? ????????????????. ?????????????????? ?????? ?????????????????????????? ???? ?????????????? ?????? ???????????????????? ?????????????????? ???? ?????? ???????????? ???????????????? ???? ???????????? ?????? ???????????????????? ?????? ???????? ???? ?????????????????????????? ???? ?????? ??????????’?? ?????????????????? ???????????? ?????????????????? ?????? ?????? ???? ?????????????????????? ???????? ???? ?????? ???????????? ????????????????. ???? ???????? ???????????? ?? ?????? ???????????????????? ???? ?????? ????????-???????????? ?????????????? ?????????????????????????????? ???????? From that database, I was able then to build our country model in the Global Electrification Platform (GEP) scenario generator using the OnSSET tool. This course is part of a collection of 8 courses called Climate Compatible Growth June 2022. This collection is developed by a set of important UN and International Organizations together with the Climate Compatible Growth #CCG#CCG program. They focus on simple toolkits used to develop energy balances; energy projections; energy investment; emissions and renewable integration modeling; integrated Climate, Land, Energy, and Water modeling; system of systems modeling; and basic energy infrastructure financing. Climate Compatible Growth #CCG#CCG (#CCG) is a UK government, ODA-funded research program supporting investment in sustainable energy and transport systems to meet development priorities.? Thanks to the amazing opportunity of working on my thesis alongside DNV, I have been able to learn a great deal of different things. I was able to enroll in a carbon capture and storage (CCS) Coursera program imposed by the The University of Edinburgh where I am learning all about the technologies used to reduce carbon emissions across many industries without sacrificing human access to energy and electricity. One of the largest miss-conceptions currently is that the best way to be able to reach the goal of 2°C temperature increase or lower (imposed by the Paris agreement) is by ensuring that all the energy that is currently produced is done so from renewable sources. This is economically and even technologically not feasible due to many reasons. For starters the unpredictability of weather patterns could pose long periods of time of low or zero energy output. Also, the storage infrastructure that would be needed to to electrify all sectors of our societies would be extremely costly and not to mention challenging. Cross border renewable energy sharing would take a lot of diplomacy among other problems that would be very challenging to resolve. A great, more cost efficient, and more technologically accessible solution that poses a more realistic solution to reach our target of reducing GHG emissions enough to stay on target with our carbon budget while safeguarding electricity for our increasing population is carbon capture and storage. It consists of filtering CO2 out from the production of energy from fossil fuels, or biomass and storing said carbon geologically so that it steers away from the natural carbon cycle and it doesn't eventually reach our atmosphere. CCS comes in many different forms. Sharing some of my thoughts on World Wind Energy Day! India has favourable geography and climate, characterized by long coastlines and extensive island areas with strong, consistent winds, position it well for harnessing wind energy. The private sector in India is poised to play a significant role in the production and distribution of wind energy in the near future. Unlike other power sources, wind energy does not require water, which is projected to become increasingly scarce in many Indian states such as Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Consequently, wind energy will be crucial in achieving energy security and self-sufficiency. Indorama Ventures Center for Clean Energy is committed to advancing impactful research that aligns with the global mission of ensuring universal access to sustainable energy sources.

Exciting News from the #Designs Journal Special Issue! With cities responsible for over 70% of global greenhouse gas emissions, decarbonizing urban areas is key to achieving global climate targets. ?? This was the focus of a recent collaborative project between UTEC - Universidad Tecnológica and KTH Royal Institute of Technology, where Sebastian Buslon, a student from UTEC's Renewable Energy Engineering program, analyzed what it would take to fully decarbonize, Durazno and Montevideo, Uruguay, with focus on the energy sector. Sebastian's thesis applied a methodology inspired by KTH's Energy Management course, which emphasizes #systemthinking and #systemmodeling to tackle complex energy challenges. He identified #localchallenges and #localsolutions, managed uncertainty through scenario and sensitivity analyses, and incorporated #energyeconomics to evaluate the feasibility of his proposed solutions. ?? Last Wednesday, Sebastian successfully defended his thesis—a remarkable personal achievement. A special thank you to Marcelo Aguiar, for helping initiate this collaboration, and the thesis defense committee Emanuel Antunes Vieira, Allan Braz, and Dr. José Luis Pineda Delgado, for their valuable feedback, which will help strengthen the manuscript.
