Burnout, it only happens to people who are weak. Absolutely not! As this article in HR Grapevine shows, even professional athletes are concerned about burnout, with Manchester City midfielder Rodri warning that players would go on strike if the number of games in a season are not reduced. The article shares how "Rodri stressed that players can only maintain peak performance for a set number of games—ideally between 40 and 50 per season. He warned that exceeding this, with some players facing up to 80 games a season, is unsustainable, and that they need to rest in order to perform better." I encourage everyone to adopt this mindset, challenge yourself and others - how many 'games' can you play before you hit burnout? As Burnoutologist Kelly Swingler says "Every choice we make takes us in one of two directions; toward wellbeing or toward Burnout, the choice is yours." I wonder what would happen if that you as a company owner/director/senior manager was actively and openly recruiting to replace a member of staff. Football seems to make up the rules as it goes along. There have been two instances of managers (already in jobs) being openly reported about getting the sack with replacements already being spoken to before they'd been given the hard word. Now, I know that much of this is down to press speculation but that has to come from somewhere probably inside the football club, someone in the know. Can you imagine if you were doing that? What would happen? At least a claim for constructive dismissal would be filed against you. More importantly how do think the member of staff would feel about it? What does it say about you as a business? Sometimes you just have to shake your head in disbelief.... https://lnkd.in/e64ATYGp
