Disclaimer: I am not an expert in this topic, just modestly aware of it. I don't know how much this is clear to folks so I will spell it out: tens of billions in federal dollars are already obligated to Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund activities that will finance ready-for-market technologies like heat pumps, improved insulation, community solar, and more in disadvantaged communities across the US. The structure of this program makes it far more durable than most Biden-Harris climate policies - like, potentially "forever" durable. It is also accountable to communities in a different way because a lot of the money will get deployed via credit unions and other CDFIs. If you have been thinking about transitioning into #workonclimate, check out the GGRF grantees. They need talent. Could be that they need yours.

Big News! I’m excited to announce the launch of EVPowerInsights — our new online hub that brings together a suite of services including our popular newsletter, a new extensive job board, industry convenings, and advisory services. In January 2023, Robert Diamond and I started ChargeCorps to help solve the EV charging reliability problem. Our idea was to create a service that brought people together to provide reliable charging infrastructure through workforce development programs and expanded employment opportunities in underserved communities.? We chose the name ChargeCorps as a tribute to our service in the US Navy. Corps (noun; pronounced “kor”) is a group of people working together for a common purpose. Over the past 12 months, we have spoken with industry leaders, founders, policy advisors, and investors to understand the problems facing EV adoption and charging infrastructure. We began sharing our thoughts on LinkedIn. Those LinkedIn posts eventually turned into our newsletter, EVPowerPulse. Over the last 12 months we’ve; - Written and published 24 newsletter issues - Shared 651 job opportunities across the industry - Hosted dinners with 20 industry leaders in two cities - Summarized industry headlines every Sunday morning for 41 weeks - Met with numerous VCs and hedge funds to discuss investment opportunities Today, we are launching a new website that brings together all of these resources for the charging community, as well as new features including; - Job Board to match the best candidates with open roles in the industry - Talent Network to connect job seekers with EV charging industry recruiters - News Aggregation to arm you with the latest news impacting charging infrastructure We will also continue to;? - Help clients win competitive infrastructure dollars - Advise VCs with diligence and investment decisions - Support startup founders with fundraising, hiring, and scaling - Work with enterprise clients on M&A, lobbying, and advocacy - Host dinners across the country with executives, policy professionals, and investors Rob and I believe that the rapid advancements in technology and policy, coupled with historic concentrations of public funding and private investment are advancing the world’s transition toward electrified transportation and sustainable energy. EVPowerInsights will work to accelerate this transition with intelligence, analysis, and services to help executives, policy-makers and investors navigate this complex and evolving landscape. The companies built, capital invested, and government initiatives implemented today will shape how we live, work, and move for generations. Rob and I are excited to help shape this future with EVPowerInsights.

One of the best things a leader can do is devote time / invest in non-scalable elements for their business. Have fun with your team. Make work enjoyable. Give a reason for your team to feel like they are going to miss being apart of something if they were to leave. This pays off leaps and bounds over time. #recruiting #techrecruiting #financialservices #fintech #tech #techresources #professionalservices

Building High-Impact Finance Teams: ?? Avoid These 3 Mistakes for Lasting Excellence ??? Equitystream | Hire Different. In the fast-paced world of finance, building a team that not only meets today’s needs but is prepared to shape tomorrow’s solutions is key. Yet, too often, we see common pitfalls that can derail even the best-intentioned hiring processes, ultimately impacting culture and performance. Here are three traps to avoid: 1. Hiring for Skills Alone ??? Finance requires expertise, but focusing solely on technical abilities without assessing character, curiosity, and collaboration can lead to a fragmented team. Avoid the temptation to build a team based solely on resumes. Look for adaptability and growth mindsets that align with your team’s culture. 2. Neglecting Diversity of Thought ?? It’s easy to hire people who think just like you, especially under the pressure of finance deadlines and market demands. But a team with diverse perspectives and backgrounds is better equipped to innovate and navigate complexity. Seek out people who challenge your perspective—it’s the friction of differing ideas that sparks innovation. 3. Setting Low Expectations for Cultural Integration ?? The onboarding phase isn’t just about paperwork. New hires need a clear understanding of what excellence looks like in your organization. Skipping this cultural integration creates disconnects, undermining cohesion and, ultimately, results. Make time for real mentorship and embed newbies within the team dynamic early on. Remember, it’s not about hiring the smartest individuals; it’s about cultivating a high-performance team that learns and grows together. If we avoid these traps, we’re not just creating a team but an engine for excellence and resilience. ???? ?? As a large UK bank deeply embedded in the tech ecosystem, we recognize the pivotal challenges facing the industry: access to finance, new markets, and talent. While we're actively addressing the first two, the issue of talent acquisition looms large, especially in the wake of Brexit. Despite our collective efforts, there's no denying that this challenge lacks a straightforward solution. So, where do we go from here? How can we, as a community, bridge this gap and nurture a thriving tech workforce in the UK? We're reaching out to our partners in universities, tech groups, local authorities, and government for their insights. What strategies, initiatives, or policies can we implement to attract and retain top-tier talent? How can we foster a more inclusive environment that encourages diversity and innovation? I’ve spoken to many of you about this over the last few weeks and months… any thoughts? Is it a challenge? What can we do?
