“Residents first” in Cleveland. City is proposing Exterior Point of Sale for vacant properties. An original article I read spoke about the bill specifically wanted to mitigate out of state/out of country investor activity in the city. On one side I understand that the city doesn’t like “bad actors” which really means terrible investors in the real estate world but there’s no way around this type of stuff happening. The real issue isn’t the investors, it’s the things that keep property value low in the first place. - High crime rates - Low Policing of neighborhoods - Potholes literally everywhere you drive - Poor infrastructure - Staffing shortage for city jobs (police, firemen, water department, Section 8, building department, etc) - Massive drug problem in certain neighborhoods Out of state investors want to take advantage of cheap properties and rightfully so! They are only cheap because the city isn’t solving the root cause of the problem. As for us, it’s business as usual. We’re local and we’ll roll with the punches. This type of stuff will always scare away some investors and it’ll always create opportunities for the rest. Let’s see what happens.
