?Endocrine Balancing? Cornerstone Focus: Physical Hormonal balance is essential for physical and mental well-being, impacting energy, mood, and overall health. The STEPS Foundation offers Endocrine Balancing Programs to support SOF spouses as part of its Four Cornerstones: Physical and Mental Health, Community, and Career & Education. The program begins with a thorough assessment of hormone and cortisol levels, followed by personalized recommendations for supplements, lifestyle adjustments, and holistic strategies. These tools empower spouses to reduce stress, restore balance, and enhance their quality of life. On average it costs $2,500 to give a SOF spouse access to the curated Endocrine Balancing regimen. We are currently raising awareness and funds to support this area of programming so that The STEPS Foundation can continue to serve our nation’s SOF Spouses as they transition from military to civilian life. Educating SOF spouses about hormonal health promotes resilience and strengthens their ability to support their families, communities, and personal goals. By addressing this critical aspect of wellness, we foster a stronger, healthier SOF community. Movember is a global movement dedicated to raising awareness and funds for men’s health issues, including mental health, suicide prevention, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer. By growing a moustache or setting personal goals, we aim to spark conversations and make a lasting impact on men’s lives. Five Things Men Should Know and Do When It Comes to Their Health: - Spend Time with People Who Make You Feel Good: Surround yourself with positive influences. Social connections and supportive relationships play a critical role in mental well-being. Engaging with friends, family, or community groups can reduce stress levels and contribute to a happier and healthier life. Take time to nurture these relationships and make social interactions a priority. - Talk More: Open conversation is essential. Whether it's talking about challenges, sharing feelings, or seeking advice, communication can prevent small issues from becoming overwhelming. Remember, it's okay to ask for help—speaking to a friend, a family member, or a professional can make a significant difference in processing emotions and navigating life's obstacles. - Know the Numbers: Be aware of key health metrics, including blood pressure, cholesterol levels, blood sugar, and body mass index (BMI). Understanding these numbers can give insight into your overall health and flag potential issues early. At 50, talk to your doctor about prostate cancer and whether it is right for you to have a PSA test. Regular check-ups are a vital part of monitoring these indicators and taking necessary action where required. - Know the Nuts: Men's health includes awareness about testicular health. Regular self-examinations can help you become familiar with your body and notice any unusual changes early on. If you detect anything out of the ordinary, don’t hesitate to consult a healthcare professional. Early detection is key in effectively addressing testicular issues. - Move, More: Incorporate physical activity into your daily routine. Regular exercise doesn’t just benefit your physical health; it also has a profound impact on mental well-being. Whether it’s walking, cycling, swimming, or playing a sport, find something enjoyable that motivates you to move. Aim for a mix of activities that elevate your heart rate and strengthen muscles. Your support in our fundraising space could make a real difference. Every donation, big or small, brings us closer to improving men’s health worldwide. Join us in making a change this Movember – let’s support the cause together! https://lnkd.in/ge8bv3p9

Did you know #suicide is the biggest killer of men under 45? Trauma and unhealed wounds are the last thing men want to talk about. Societal expectations of masculinity tell men that they need to be always strong, that there is no space for weakness, and admitting that they need help is a failure. Men are less likely to talk to others about their feelings, so they suffer in silence. This hurts not only them, but also their close ones: parents, wives, children, siblings, especially when men are more likely to experience substance abuse and exhibit violence to ease their pain. A conversation can save lives, therapy can help, admitting one needs help is the first step. The Hike With Mike Foundation is on a mission to provide immediate #therapy for those at risk of suicide. With NHS waiting lists stretching up to 5 months, many cannot afford to wait. That’s why we’re committed to offering support within 24 hours, ensuring no one in crisis is left without help. To help this cause, and fund at least 5 therapy sessions for someone in need, I am taking on the #challenge summiting 5 peaks in 5 hours in the stunning Lake District during 13 km (8 miles) trek. This is no easy feat for someone who only just started with #hiking last year, but training ahead of this challenge will definately help with my recovery from recent pneumonia, both physically and mentally. Hiking with Mike represents their commitment to saving lives and ensuring immediate access to life-saving therapy, but also helps everyone involved. I can do it, and you can help too! Your #support is crucial. By donating, you’re helping to provide urgent care to those who need it most. Together, we can make a real difference. Join us in this fight to save lives—every contribution counts! THANK YOU! #mentalhealth #charity #thehikewithmikefoundation #thankyou

Ask yourself, what do I have to lose by donating? Then ask yourself, what do I have to lose if I don’t? Someone in the world develops dementia every 3 seconds. That somone could be you, a family memeber or friend. There are over 55 million people worldwide living with dementia in 2020. This number will almost double every 20 years, reaching 78 million in 2030 and 139 million in 2050. #dementiaawareness #walktoendalzheimers #memoriesmatter #ENDALZ

The Lake District Calvert Trust can confirm the closure of its 10-bed acquired brain injury rehabilitation unit in Keswick (known as ‘Calvert Reconnections’).??The other centres (Calvert Lakes and Calvert Stables) will continue to operate as normal.? ? Unfortunately, Calvert Reconnections has not attracted enough clients on a consistent basis to make it financially sustainable for the charity.?The planned opening and establishment of Calvert Reconnections in 2020 was severely impacted by the pandemic.?Since it opened, the centre has suffered from volatility in numbers of participant bookings, and, since March 2024 there has been a significant reduction in occupancy.? ? Said Sean Day, Chief Executive at the Lake District Calvert Trust: ? “Following a period of consultation, it is my sad duty to confirm that Calvert Reconnections has closed.?We were unable to find an alternative way forward with our existing operation, and there were no partners found to take over the service.?The last participants have now left the service, and the centre has closed its doors.? ? “Despite recent events, we remain so proud of Calvert Reconnections.?I’d particularly like to recognise the incredible effort that went into creating and running our innovative ABI rehabilitation service.???An inspired group of people worked tirelessly for nearly 10 years to make Reconnections a reality.??When the centre was open it changed many people’s lives - our clinical outcomes report is evidence of that.?Supporters have contacted us to say how sad they are - past beneficiaries, case managers and solicitors.?They all recognise that we created something special, and are as disappointed as we are that the service was not financially sustainable.”? ? Added Sean Day: ? “The Trustees and leadership team have taken some painful decisions in the last couple of months to ensure the viability and sustainability of the Lake District Calvert Trust for many years to come.” ? The Lake District Calvert Trust provides services to meet the needs of people with a range of disabilities, including those with most profound disabilities and complex needs.?To find out more please visit the website at?www.calvertlakes.org.uk

Answer me this. If therapy can be accessed through your workplace, school, church, council, refuges, charitable organisations and privately... Why isn't this common knowledge? Am I dense? Because some of these are news to me! and I certainly wasn't made aware of these avenues when I was looking for therapy as a young adult. I was prescribed medication not offered therapy. So are they not publicized to drive people through the medical system? Is it that the therapy is technically "available" through these avenues but capacity is low, so they keep it on the down low? Are there strict eligibility criteria you need to get this therapy? Or is this just a simple case of being told one thing but the reality is very different? Is this "tick-boxing" at its finest? #mentalhealthawareness #therapy #therapists

It’s not all #tweed, #moustaches, and classic #motorcycles, but they certainly help! A thoroughly distinguished day… ?? Yesterday, Sunday 19th May, I joined 110,000 Gentlefolk, across 958 cities in 105 countries, taking part in?https://lnkd.in/egGHsGEj #DGR2024. Men and women turned out in force to raise money for #prostatecancer research and #mentalhealth awareness. I also managed to catch up with some old friends, James Baker and Jo?o Afonso...! (There's always plenty of room in life for #serendipity!) Cambridge’s 240 riders raised another £26k this year, taking the City’s total contribution over the last 9 years to >£250k! #DGR has raised over $50m for improving health futures, since inception in 2012. Globally, prostate cancer is the second most common cancer in men – but because it’s ‘down there’, it often doesn’t get medical attention until there's a problem. If you have concerns, https://lnkd.in/e_YVCac4 is a helpful resource. Anyone can suffer mental health issues at any time… Your conversation as a #friend, or just someone who takes the time to notice - can change, maybe even save, a life. www.ruok.org.au promote a simple four-step guide to help navigate a conversation with someone who might be finding it tough. ·?Ask: Start by asking how they’re feeling. It’s worth mentioning any changes you’ve picked up on… ·?Listen: Give them your full attention, no distractions. Let them know you’re hearing what they’re saying and you’re not judging. ·?Encourage action: Help them focus on simple things that might improve how they feel. Are they getting enough sleep? Exercising and eating well? Have they got others in their life that they trust to speak with? If they’ve felt low for more than two weeks, suggest that they chat to their doctor. ·?Check in: Suggest you catch up soon – in person if you can. This helps to show that you care; plus, you’ll get a feel for whether they’re feeling any better. Every one of us can play a role in raising awareness of the importance of #womenshealth and #menshealth - and mainstreaming conversations that are about historically taboo, intimate and sensitive topics: Look after each other …look after yourselves. https://lnkd.in/egPJquai A dapper congrats to Mark Coningsby and Edward Stow and the Cambridge organising team for their tireless endeavours; debonair thanks to the volunteers #bikemarshals, and good people of #Cambridge for a seamless ride; stylish cheers to https://lnkd.in/eybGZAiM and @northstowetapandsocial for hosting start and finish!?

I'm participating in Move to raise funds for #Movember, and I need your help. Please donate to support men's health. This year has been challenging, and I hope my story can inspire those facing personal or medical issues. It all began in late March 2024 when I started feeling off—tired, constantly thirsty, and experiencing blurry vision. Initially, I attributed these symptoms to stress, believing I was healthy despite losing 3 to 5 pounds per week. A visit to the emergency department revealed the cause: Type 2 Diabetes. The diagnosis was overwhelming, as I knew little about diabetes and how it would change my life. Armed with insulin and medications, I felt a whirlwind of emotions, but I was determined to fight. With support from my loving wife, I changed my diet and increased my physical activity, leading to stabilized glucose levels. A few weeks later, I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, a chronic autoimmune condition. I embraced meal prepping, discovered new recipes, and joined an online support group. Exercise became another cornerstone of my management plan, and I continued to run 5 km to 10 km and strength training, reminding myself of my physical strength. There were tough days with unexpected blood sugar fluctuations, but I learned to manage them. Today, I see my diagnosis as the start of a new chapter. Living with Type 1 Diabetes has taught me resilience, self-awareness, and the value of a supportive community. No matter your struggles, **NEVER GIVE UP**—most situations can improve with education and effort. https://lnkd.in/guKk4GaN #MensHealth, #MentalHealth, #Diabetes
