Yesterday, I had a date—with my breath. These past few weeks, I’ve felt slightly off-kilter on some levels. Maybe it’s the lingering effects of the Wolf full moon, the news of the Palisades fires (close to a dear friend’s home), or the rare planetary alignment event. Whatever the reason, my usual go-to tools just weren’t cutting it. And my Oura ring was showing dwindling restorative time. So, I booked in for a 90-minute breathwork class. Coincidentally, on the eve of the lunar new year - the year of the snake. No fuss, no overthinking. Just me, a mat, and the guidance to breathe. As a working Mama, it was such a luxury to lie down, tune out the noise, and check in. It made me remember how often we underestimate the power of the basics. Self care doesn’t need to be complicated, curated, or scheduled to perfection. Sometimes, all we need is a quiet moment to reconnect with the life force that sustains us. So as we head into February and the pace picks ups, here’s a reminder: you don’t have to wait for the world to align (or misalign) to pause.
