In case you decided to give AlmaLinux a try for your #enterprise #linux, you may find some helpful articles in my #blog. Over the last couple of years, I migrated all my workload, except my notebook, to AlmaLinux and never looked back. It’s rock solid, easy to use and secure by default. With Podman, you can run containers and Ansible comes straight from the repository for automation. https://lnkd.in/ec9-zxs9

Last week we talked about SUSE's Liberty Linux Lite, which offers a lifeline for CentOS 7 users and mentioned that #RockyLinux is another alternative. This week we talked CIQ about their #RockyLinux Bridge, which does pretty much the same thing. But there's a twist for the biggest enterprise users, in that CIQ offers a site license and will help customers migrate to a future-proof version of Enterprise Linux. #Rundown

I reposted previously about SUSE Liberty and the support extension for CentOS and the need for organizations to not rest on their laurels for another 3-4 years. CIQ's Rocky Linux bridge I think provides that solution. Not only is there extended support, but also participating in discussion and planning migration to any current Linux, or even site licenses to get supported migrations. Apparently this isn't only for the Enterprise Linux ecosystem (Rocky Linux, Oracle, etc.) but any Linux distro. This is the solution I think companies should be entertaining. Then take advantage of the expertise to get migrated to something current at the same time. Any org who is still tooled around CentOS 7 today I would suggest considering a push to achieve final migrations to Enterprise Linux 9. Don't put yourself behind the 8-ball in just a little over 4 more years, which is just a bit Beyond Liberty and Bridge support for CentOS and EL8 would also go EOL. Not when they could go to EL9 and get almost 8 years until needing to consider another extended support option. With that much time available for planning a transition into EL10, or even a totally different distro, should be well achievable for an enterprise org who is thinking ahead and planning their future before it just happens to them. Don't make a habit of being unprepared. I think this is a really great offering. If your business is still on CentOS 7, maybe inquire with your CTO what the 5-10 year plan looks like.

Yesterday, I had the privilege of joining a fantastic Kubernetes Austin meetup focused on Talos Linux, a modern, minimal distribution designed for running Kubernetes. ?? Here’s what I love about it: - Lightweight and secure: Talos is incredibly lightweight and ensures robust security. -Declarative and API driven
Don’t you love when #linux and #kubernetes converge? Join us on Jul/25 to hear the talk by Andrew Rynhard about Linux Talos, a Linux designed for Kubernetes - secure, immutable, and minimal. Forget SSH, shell or console - everything is an API on Talos ??. ?? RSVP here: https://lnkd.in/gk_cCych #atx #k8sAustin #cloudnative #teamcloudnative #opensource Sidero Labs, Inc.
