From the diary of a frustrated Office AC! ? 8:00 ????:?Brrrr Just woke up from standby mode with an Urge. To. Freeze. Everyone. 9:15 ????: First wave of complaints. Someone brought in a sweater. Seriously? In June? 11:00 ????: They keep adjusting me! I'm not a puppet, people! Pick a temp & stick with it! 1:00 ????: Lunch break - part of the day when everyone flees the building for fear of frostbite. 3:00 ????: People are sluggish, productivity is down. Maybe if they weren't shivering, they'd get more done? 5:00 ????: Freedom! Dreaming of a world with temperature harmony. ? #Learnings for a #marketer from this. . . . . Relax, it's not that post :p This one is just a result of a writer's chilling urge to vent some frosty air.

Are you constantly running on near empty? Let me ask you a few questions: Do you have a cyclical sickness that pops its head up at the most inconvenient of times? Do you keep thinking, “If I can just get these couple things done, I’ll be right back on track. That’ll solve everything?” If you answered YES, to even one of these questions, you are probably burnt out – or well on your way to becoming burnt out.

Last week I was chatting with my partner and she mentioned about half her team was out sick. This made me realize I'd never really thought about the incident rate of illness or how it impacts software teams. So I did some digging and wrote up https://lnkd.in/gQ4aHq9U. A couple cool stats: 1. A Japanese study by Odgerel Chimed-Ochir et-al found that you can expect employees to lose ~6.55% of their working days to _other people's illnesses_! 2. Regardless of project size you can expect an 8% drag on productivity sickness on average based on numbers from the CDC, Mayo Clinic and John Hopkins.

My Worst Fear Initial experiments with the 4 Day Week had mostly been successful. Although some did not work, and why should they? Trying to implement a four-day week with a 25% increase in productivity is not so easy. People think you should do the same hours in four days instead of five! I know, ridiculous right? But now the Four Day Week has become a political football. What a total shambles. This is my original post from November 2023. The Four Day week experiment has been largely successful. I have spoken to people who believe it is a National Insurance swindle but at least the Martians weren’t involved. Obviously with any operation you need to provide the service when it is needed. That’s seven days a week I assume for many local council services and healthcare. The Local Councils were reporting lower absence and sickness and ease of hiring. This is like saying water is wet. Can we please stop waiting for the Government to fix the National Productivity Crisis! We need to fix it ourselves. We need to be bothered to fix it. We need to put the graft into fixing it. Keep smiling!

My Monday morning didn’t start in the best way. I had to leave the house earlier than usual and was rushing. When I got into the office, I realized my phone wasn’t with me. I didn’t want to panic yet, so I asked someone to call it. It rang, but no one picked up. All I could think about was the stress: blocking the SIM, handling pending work, and starting from scratch. It felt overwhelming, and it was hard to concentrate with that uncertainty in the back of my mind. I called my mom, hoping it was still at home, but she couldn’t find it. I retraced my steps, calling back to check each place I’d been. Finally, they found it in the last room I’d been in—what a relief! And to top it off, my mom offered to bring it to me. Why I’m sharing this: We often think that stress only comes from big, complex problems, but even small disruptions can impact our productivity and focus. Taking a few moments to slow down, retrace our steps, and ask for help can be the key to getting back on track. P.S. Cherish those people who go out of their way to support you, especially in the moments that might seem small to others. #MondayThoughts #Grateful #VirtualAssitant #AdministrativeSupport #ProductivityTips #SupportSystem
