AI is becoming recognized for its potential to strengthen cybersecurity measures and tackle the skills gap across various sectors. Its ability to streamline data management processes boosts efficiency and strengthens security protocols. However, the?rise of GenAI?has raised alarms about the effectiveness of traditional data privacy practices, urging a reevaluation of existing strategies. https://lnkd.in/g7nfwXzw ? Aaron Fulkerson identifies the real threat with AI: data sovereignty. “Control the data, control the industry.”
Opaque is mentioned in this article about security threats with AI, but everyone is missing the real issue. It’s not just about regulations and hackers… “Security and privacy is a growing concern as companies adopt AI. Companies strive to protect against malicious attacks and follow strict data compliance standards.Startups like Opaque Systems and HiddenLayer are aimed attackling these security threats.” The more significant issue is data ownership and control, what we’ve been calling data sovereignty. They who control the data control the industry. Period. Yes, security and privacy for regulatory compliance is a concern. Companies could get a fine. However, the real existential threat is owning your data. Look at Universal Music Group. That’s a business that will be Kodak in 5 years and relegated to the dust bin with Blockbuster Video in 10 years because their distribution partners (Spotify, Apple Music, Meta) control the data. “Opaque Systems, for instance, enables companies to share private data through a confidential computing platform to accelerate AI adoption.” Full article: https://lnkd.in/gcp3Sftc This is not isolated to music industry. This is every industry at enterprise scale with distribution and supply chain partners. Control the data, control the industry. Make no mistake, the next five years will be WILD as the companies who squeezed the toothpaste out of the tube (lost control of their data) implode. In this issue of AI Confidential, we cover this topic in-depth and explore how confidential AI offers a solution. https://lnkd.in/gWCx-bcm

As AI continues to transform industries, companies face growing pressure to innovate and remain competitive while meeting heightened expectations for responsible technology use. Many corporate governance boards are still uncertain about their role in overseeing the use of complex technologies. A new report released this week from the NACD (National Association of Corporate Directors) marks the first formal acknowledgment of the critical role of corporate governance in emerging technologies like AI. The report outlines best practices, including the need for governance boards to maintain technological proficiency and establish clear metrics for overseeing technology use. It concludes that effective corporate #governance will be key to whether new technologies—such as AI—gain acceptance and deliver value for organizations, economies, and societies, especially in regulated industries like financial and insurance services. As corporate governance sharpens its focus on AI oversight, the importance of adopting ethical, scalable, and responsible AI systems becomes clear. #ResponsibleAI ensures that AI systems are developed with transparency, fairness, and trustworthiness at their core, mitigating risks regarding privacy. It also emphasizes the need for AI to align with both regulatory standards and ethical principles, ensuring technology benefits society as a whole. Opaque is a leader in helping businesses innovate responsibly and build long-term trust through #ConfidentialAI solutions that prioritize regulatory compliance, data privacy, and sovereignty. How organizations govern AI directly impacts public trust, data ownership, and the advancement of responsible technology. With solutions like Opaque, businesses can meet higher standards for governance while balancing innovation with the need to protect sensitive data.

6 天前Thanks for the mention! AI is definitely transforming cybersecurity by automating data management and improving security processes, which helps address the skills gap. However, with GenAI’s rise, traditional data privacy methods might not be enough. To stay ahead, we should focus on building adaptive risk frameworks that evolve alongside new AI capabilities. Upskilling teams to understand both AI’s benefits and risks is also key.
