It’s astonishing that flexible work options continue to be an issue despite the clear benefits they provide many organizations still struggle to fully embrace them. This ongoing debate often stems from traditional workplace cultures and the challenges of adapting to new models of work. Although frustrating, we need to continue to persistent in our efforts to overcome these challenges. I’m confident these options will become the norm in the very near future as the younger generation (s) become the majority of the workforce.
Flexible work is crucial for moms ( ALL employees) as it allows them to balance professional and family responsibilities effectively. It empowers them to excel both personally and professionally by accommodating their diverse needs, such as adjusting schedules for school pickups or remote work options. This flexibility fosters a more inclusive and supportive work environment, benefiting not just moms but all employees and the organization!!
These options have a positive impact on retention, productivity and employee satisfaction which are all good for the organization. We should know this by now.
Why do you think it is that roughly 70% of high school valedictorians in the U.S. are girls and just 10% of Fortune 500 companies are led by women?
It all goes back to the fact that the workplace was never built with moms in mind.
Moms First?and our partners are working hard to change that.
A few of the things we are pushing for:
?? Childcare benefits
?? Paid family leave (and importantly, gender-neutral paid family leave) for all Americans
??Equal pay and an end to the motherhood penalty
?? Flexible/remote work
?? Hire more moms, especially in leadership positions
?? Embrace resume gaps (if anything, motherhood makes us stronger leaders)
