Product traceability, even across the vast FMCG sector, is becoming ever more popular for consumers besides being legally mandated across markets. For example, in the case of various fresh foods sold in the US, including fruit and vegetables, various cheeses, frozen fish and seafood, from the end of next year, will have to provide extensive traceability information via their packaging e.g. using a QR code. This also applies to all of their overseas suppliers worldwide, under the US FDA’s FSMA Rule.
