Apple Sports App Receives New Updates for NBA and NHL Playoffs - https://lnkd.in/evNiaxBX Apple's newly released sports app for iPhone was updated today ahead of the NBA and NHL playoffs, which begin this weekend. Apple says fans will be able to "follow every matchup with added details about each series and more," but we haven't noticed any immediate changes to the app after updating to the new version. The first NBA and NHL playoff series begin on Saturday, April 20, so additional details will likely be visible then. Some of the information, such as playoff matchups and conference standings, was already available in the previous version of the app. Launched in February, the Apple Sports app displays scores, schedules, statistics, and more for a variety of leagues, including the NBA, NHL, MLB, MLS, and Premier League. The app also displays real-time play-by-play information for games in progress. Apple Sports is available for free in the App Store. iOS 18 will add these new features to your iPhone iOS 18 is expected to be the "biggest" update in iPhone history. The 3 C's Of Post Play & Why Every Player Needs To Practice Post Play Every player should practice post play. In today's game, you see elite point guards like Russell Westbrook practicing post play. Coach Jim Huber goes over the “3 C’s” below. And many of the great guards throughout time have added post play to their game... Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Dwyane Wade, Gary Payton, Chauncey Billups, and Sam Cassell. These are just a few over the past couple of decades. Here's why learning post play can be so effective! 1 - There aren't many good post defenders. Due to less post play, players aren't defending in the post as often during practice and games. Hence, they aren't as skilled in defending post players. So, the chances of you having opportunities to take advantage of weak post defenders are likely. Post play is also a great way to neutralize those quick, feisty defenders who wreak havoc on the perimeter. 2 - Shots near the basket are the best shot in basketball. Excluding free throws, shots near the goal or in the restricted area are the most efficient shots in basketball. Then if the defense collapses to stop shots close to the basket, you pass the ball to somebody who is open. This should be a high percentage shot elsewhere. Also... 3 - You cause more fouls and get more free throws! Attacking the rim leads to more fouls on the defense. This leads to more free throws. Now, what do you think happens at the end of the game? Due to the opposition reaching the foul bonus, you spend more of your possessions shooting free throws. Not to mention, it can also lead to foul trouble on their key players. When you keep the other team's best players off the floor, you win more games.

This is an old article, but I’m curious to hear your thoughts on the Major League Baseball (MLB) and Nike ‘s collection of city connect jerseys. As a big fan of Baseball and specifically my hometown Atlanta Braves, I find it interesting to discuss the impact of these jerseys on the audience of the game. Have you purchased a city connect jersey? Do you believe the collection has successfully expanded the audience? Do the metrics quoted in the article indicate a successful campaign in your opinion? Personally, I am NOT a fan of the collection. I find it to be ugly and uninspired, with a few exceptions. Additionally, I question the effectiveness of these metrics for two brands collectively valued over $100 billion. The social engagement rate, in my view, is not a fair measure of the campaign's success, as most of the engagement involves people criticizing the collection's aesthetics. The notion that "any press is good press" doesn't always hold true, especially when millions are urging the discontinuation of the collection. I would love to see more recent metrics on this collection. What are your thoughts on this? Do you have a different perspective? Check out some of the special NHL x ESPN/Disney broadcast of the 'Big City Greens Classic' set within the Big City Greens setting and integrating a lot of characters. Some thoughts and notes below on this 2nd iteration of the animated version of a live NHL game (the traditional broadcast was on ABC). Overall, I liked it a lot, but I think the strategy should be centered more around turning kids into hockey/NHL fans vs. turning kids into fans of the Big City Greens broadcast of a hockey game - They should intersperse replays/clips from the real game to expose kids watching (even though it breaks kayfabe) - Get kids on the broadcast (players' kids, famous kids, youth hockey players; NFL x Nick does this a bit more) - Is cartoon-ifying an otherwise relatively traditional broadcast the right route or should the paradigm be re-thought (more Manningcast-like, less pxp?). Should there be interactive second screen elements kids can do on their tablets? - The enhanced angles this year are dope and some of the cartoon touches (hen laying 'pucks') are nice - Gameplay effects and onomatopoeia and shot speed is nice - Ads for Verizon and Nintendo Switch on some of the surrounding buildings ?? - Characters in goal - Color commentator Kevin Weekes sounds muffled (broadcasters wearing VR headsets causing that?) - Tutorials are good, but the live commentary by the broadcasters could be replaced by pre-produced w/ characters explaining - More direct content collaboration with the league/teams would be beneficial Enough of my notes, share your thoughts!
