Why is there a hiring frenzy for #loanofficers? I started the mortgage banking industry in the early 1990s as a #CorporateTrainer assigned to design, develop and deliver what is known today as "On-Boarding" and #softskills to improve human-to-human #communication. We hired new residential mortgage loan officers every week. Looking back, I remember #Realtors hungry for #mortgageexpertise and #exceptionalservice and lenders hiring straight commission employees as a free #businessdevelopment source of new deposits and #mortgage servicing rights in return for bank branch referrals at full pay. It was a win-win-win-win. Now I see advertisements daily for licensed telemarketers, brokers dedicated to huge corporations with marketing service agreements or real estate broker-owned partnerships and banks seeking top producers to work for lower pay. Businesses employing these strategies offset increased advertising, marketing, artificial intelligence and automation costs by reducing labor costs, resulting in lower customer service. Judging by market share, consumers demand to "feel like a number". Looking forward I see less qualified staff providing less service, more automated marketing with artificial intelligence, longer processing times, more rejections and higher consumer costs in transactional instead of #relationshipsales. Big business only spends big bucks to recruit more staff if they predict a significant increase in volume. What do they know that I don't? #Recruiters?
