My favorite definition of hospitality has long been to create a feeling of home when someone is away or far from home. It's the industry I've called home longer than any other industry that I've ever worked in, and it's undoubtedly afforded me the most valuable skills that allow me to have the greatest impact in the lives of those work with. There's a famous hotel in Vegas, the Bellagio, that taught me a valuable lesson. Here's the lesson: new experiences=new revenue. Meaning, when you think outside the box, you have the potential for opportunities and revenue. How? It's pretty straightforward- take an opportunity and find different dimensions to add more value. Hotels typically make money on room bookings but what Bellagio did was to create other #opportunities to attract more people into the hotel and therefore, spend more money.
