The Latino Commission on AIDS has hosted Reunion Latina since 1996 and has provided a space for providers and stakeholders to discuss ways to improve services, share strategies on how to overcome health challenges, unify our efforts to end the HIV/AIDS epidemic, address viral Hepatitis and STIs and craft a common vision to eliminate health disparities in Latino communities. The two-day training institute will focus on responding to HIV, viral hepatitis, STIs, stigma and other health issues in Hispanic/Latinx communities. The overall goal is to advance our public health response, improve the sustainability of organizations and strengthen programs that serve our communities as we also recognize and address the current challenges. https://lnkd.in/eRPBi7GY

A groundbreaking trial in Africa is underway to tackle a rising challenge: preventing diabetes in individuals living with HIV on antiretrovial therapy (#ART). Through a partnership ?? of researchers, policy makers, healthcare providers, and patient representatives, the META trial is exploring a low-cost intervention— the drug metformin —in a large, randomised placebo-controlled phase III trial funded by the EU through an European & Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership grant. This initiative not only aims to generate globally relevant evidence, but strengthen ?? research capacity for chronic conditions like diabetes in HIV care. With collaboration between African and European partners, we’re fostering an ethos of openness, equality, and shared purpose ?? . This Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) paper on US and China Collaboration on HIV/AIDs chronicles the collaboration effort and what was accomplished from 2002 to 2018. The author, Jennifer Bouey, shows how health development can transcend geopolitical strains. "While China has engaged with numerous Western countries in collaborative efforts for HIV/AIDS control, its partnership with the United States has stood out for its multifaceted approach, which involved various agencies and philanthropic organizations. LHSS #Cambodia is supporting the National AIDS Authority in launching the Sixth National Strategic Plan (NSP6) for 2024-2028, while also disseminating the Seventh National AIDS Spending Assessment (2020-2022). The initiative aims to present key priorities, strategies, findings, and challenges, as well as seek reaffirmation of political and multi-sectoral commitment from implementing ministerial members and key stakeholders, including key populations (KPs), in responding to HIV/AIDS.
