"Consider a sunflower. Nobody would dare criticize a sunflower seed for its looks if they had in mind the glorious flower it becomes after you plant it in the earth. Scripture talks about our bodies in such a way; 1 Corinthians 15:37 and 1 Corinthians 15:42 say, “...what you sow is not the body that is to be, but a bare kernel…So is it with the resurrection of the dead. What is sown is perishable; what is raised is imperishable.” We cannot see it now, but there is a redemption for our bodies beyond this world, and our bodies are like mere seeds to what glorious blossoms they will be. The passing comments people make in this life have no real substance to them in the light of eternity and the hope Jesus has given us in His redemption. Who knows? Maybe the very things that are the struggle points for us with our bodies in this life will become the biggest reflectors of God’s glory one day." Here is the manuscript for the sermon "A Tapestry of Unity" at Christ Church Los Angeles, Sunday October 27, 2024." This is the sermon of a series leading up to election day which is Tuesday November 5th, addressing five themes that will help us in the church navigate all the anxiety and negativity surrounding this election. How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity! It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down on Aaron’s beard, down on the collar of his robe. It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion. For there the Lord bestows his blessing, even life forevermore. (Psalms 133:1-3) Unity is a complex and beautiful pattern woven together in the body of Christ. It's not about uniformity or sameness, but about diverse parts interconnected to form one harmonious whole. God celebrates the rich diversity within His church, including differences in gender, ethnicity, spiritual gifts, and geography. Just as a tapestry is created from many different threads, the body of Christ is made up of individuals with unique talents and perspectives. When these individuals work together in unity, they create a masterpiece that is far more beautiful and meaningful than any single thread could be on its own. #unity #tapestry #pride #prejudice #misunderstanding #Humility #love #forgiveness

Why did GOD create man? The creation of man, as described in the Scriptures, highlights God's deliberate plan for humanity. Genesis 2:15 indicates that God placed Adam in the Garden of Eden to work and care for it, signifying a purpose of stewardship. Similarly, after the flood, God instructed Noah and his sons to be fruitful and multiply, emphasizing the importance of family and continuation of life (Genesis 9:1). God's purpose for humanity involves working, maintaining creation, and upholding family values. To fulfill these roles, we must follow God's calling, using the gifts He has bestowed upon us. Ephesians 2:10 reinforces this, stating that we are created for good works that God has prepared for us in advance. Thus, our lives are meant to contribute to the growth of God's kingdom through our unique talents and efforts.
