?? Candy is sweet, until you get one bad piece! Do not eat any candy before going through it at home after trick-or treating. Other people’s houses won’t know your child’s food allergies and won’t give them candy according to their allergies. ? If your child is known to have allergic reactions to certain foods, bring their EpiPen with you while trick-or-treating. Remember that candies such as gum, peanuts, hard candy and sometimes small toys confused for candies can pose a choking risk.

On October 1st, OCCY Parent Partnership Board member James Ray presented at House Interim Study 24-043, requested by Rep. Daniel Pae, to discuss community supports for reducing the number of children in care. Over the past year, James has served on the Oklahoma Ending the Need for Group Placement Co-Design Team, which brought together youth, families, and experts to identify ways to improve child welfare in Oklahoma. In collaboration with OKDHS, TEEM, The Annie E. Casey Foundation, and others, the team shared recommendations from cross-system efforts to prioritize children and families.
