https://lnkd.in/eETUDFCB Great news. Finally!? Reality check though. League of Ireland stadiums are dilapidated and in desperate need of government funding. Tallaght (home of Shamrock Rovers), opened 2009, being the one exception. Realistically , new/renovated grounds should aim to host 8,000 to 10,000. Tallaght’s capacity is 10,500. We don’t have the population to support stadia such as the ones in the Premier League who mostly have a capacity of 40,000 plus. Brand new compact stadia with family zones/passes could increase attendances. For example, when I went to NBA during my years in Canada, two kids and two adults got pizza slices with their tickets. Play centres for the kids could be laid on before kick-off. Pool tables, table tennis tables and video game consoles. Short concerts before and after games could showcase new musical talent. Bar and food could be made available for 2-3 hours after the match to increase revenue for the club. I remember seeing this first hand at Barcelona v Man Utd in Washington DC. Allow/Encourage the fans to spend money at the stadium instead of at nearby pubs/fast food chains. No need to close the stadium/food/drink the minute the match is over. The League of Ireland could also reach out to our immigrant population and encourage them to ‘adopt’ a team. For example, the Polish community might get behind Shelbourne or the Nigerian community could become new fans of Cork City..? Any other ideas to boost attendance at the League of Ireland?

The Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games ‘one year on’ evaluation report shows the positive impact the Games has had on widening access to sport and physical activity; one of Sport England's key aims. The report shows the Games contributed £1.2 billion to the UK economy, with £79.5 million of social value creation, including community benefits and increases in wellbeing and earnings of volunteers and those trained as part the Games. Two of the facilities Sport England invested in for the Games were?Cannock Chase Forest?and the?Sandwell Aquatics Centre. The DCMS report highlights that, one month after Sandwell opened, it had acquired 4,400 members and welcomed over 60,000 visitors, with 70% of these participants coming from the top 30% most deprived areas. Great to also see that through a 10-year partnership with another one of our clients, West Midlands Combined Authority, Sport England will continue to create inclusive opportunities for people to play sport and get active. London Sport would like to announce a new project, delivered in partnership with Sport England and management consultants, Knight Kavanagh & Page (KKP), to identify, review and address the greatest challenges surrounding access to, and the protection of playing fields, in London.? Playing fields play a crucial role in support the delivery of community sport and informal recreation across the Capital. However, there are significant concerns over the increasing pressure being placed on existing playing field sites, with some either at risk of being closed to the public, at risk of being closed, or even being sold off privately. The #IndianSuperLeague is extensively advertising the upcoming 2024/25 season, be it the Chhetri-Bhutia commercial or similar front-page posters. But the real question is, how long will the league continue to use celebrities to market itself? Year after year, the league has decreased its spending and received nothing but peanuts in exchange. The league has literally just one sponsor in Nivia Sports. Following the departure of #Hero as title sponsor, the promoters have struggled to attract financial assistance from big brands. Forget about title sponsor; the league does not even have associate partners. On the other hand, the clubs are receiving strong backing from brands, primarily local ones. In the long run, the team may be able to sustain itself, but how will the league continue without capital gains? Aside from such commercials, what other strategies does AIFF or FSDL have to boost #IndianFootball? It really should be #AglaSponsorKaun? than #AglaHeroKaun?
