The conference theme was “New Developments in Gender Discrimination and Harassment Law in California, The United States, and Beyond.” Ilona Turner co-presented on the panel entitled “Restorative Justice,” and Vida L. Thomas co-presented “Investigations (Investigating a Title VII Complaint).” The two groups of panelists are pictured here. The #CLPRpublications series continues with - Intersections of Caste and Gender: Implementation of Devdasi Prohibition Laws. This policy brief gives an insight to the intersections of caste and gender while examining the Devadasi practice and the lack of implementation of laws to prohibit them. The brief also makes recommendations to ensure not only the implementation of these legislations but also law reform to ensure that such discrimination against women and girls on the basis of caste and gender is systemically removed. Dear Connections, I'm excited to share my latest research on a topic close to my heart: the lower participation of women in the higher judiciary as judges and senior advocates. Despite progress in many areas, gender representation in the legal profession remains an issue, particularly in senior roles within the judiciary. My article explores the reasons behind this gap and discusses potential solutions to foster a more inclusive and equitable legal system. I would love to hear your thoughts and insights on this important issue! #GenderEquality #LegalResearch #WomenInLaw #Judiciary #DiversityAndInclusion #LawReform

Private, consensual same-sex relationships are outlawed by discriminatory laws in roughly 77 countries, leaving individuals at risk of being arrested, prosecuted, imprisoned, and, in some instances, executed. Today — International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia — is a chance for all of us to reflect on ways we can support the #LBGTQI+ community. It’s a day to reaffirm our commitment to equality and inclusion. Today is the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (#IDAHOBIT). The theme for this year, "No one left behind: equality, freedom, and justice for all," is a powerful reminder that the fight for LGBTQ+ rights is intrinsically linked to the broader fight for equality and justice in our world. This theme echoes the core principle of the UN's 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development – to leave no one behind. Achieving a truly sustainable future means ensuring that everyone, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity, has the opportunity to thrive. I believe that a world free from homophobia, biphobia, and transphobia is a world where everyone can reach their full potential. Let's all do our part to make this vision a reality. #LGBTQRights #EqualityForAll #NoOneLeftBehind?#Humanrights

What are ways we can call people in, rather than calling them "out"? ?? Today (Friday 17 May) is International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersex-phobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT). This day is used to mark the progress made, but more importantly the progress still needed to make LGBT+ rights and life quality equal with peers. ?? In the spirit of inclusivity and encouraging open conversations, I encourage to ask yourself: How can we turn prejudice, bigotry or microaggressions into open, honest dialogue and a learning curve? Instead of calling someone "out", how can we call them in? Let's stand together for inclusivity, equality and a world free from discrimination.
