The gold standard for information about the labor market is the Current Population Survey (CPS), a nationally representative monthly survey of about 60,000 U.S. households that has been running for more than 80 years. The CPS is run by the Census Bureau on behalf of the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), a division of the U.S. Department of Labor.3?The CPS?produces monthly estimates?of the unemployment rate and other key statistics that track the health of the labor market."
