Huge Thank You to our amazing Who I Am Foundation #volunteers in #Albuquerque who came out to Saturday morning's Community Clean-Up project! Our volunteers picked up over 4 BAGS of trash at Tingley Beach, in a little over 2 hours! Showcasing the impact you can make in the community by simply volunteering 1-2 hours a week. These Community Clean-Up projects are conducted each month, and our team will rotate around to different parts of Santa Fe, to clean up streets, neighborhoods, and parks. Volunteer-led projects such as these are one of the quickest, simplest, and least expensive ways to inspire more community spirit and civic action. A visually appealing #community increases property values, attracts businesses, and improves the neighborhood's image. Beauty is one of the three most influential factors in community attachment, which means loyalty, to your particular town or city. Some research even shows that a nice-looking neighborhood promotes good behavior. If you know of any parks or neighborhoods that could use some beautification, simply comment below! #EnvironmentalOutreach Awesome job #TeamWhoIAm_Albuquerque

ICYMI: Last week, the City of Jacksonville and Jacksonville Transportation Authority kicked off an ongoing partnership to plant trees at bus stops throughout the city to provide shade for transit riders, beautify the city, and improve community health. Future phases of tree plantings at bus stops will be coordinated by the Office of Resilience, Department of Public Works, and JTA. “The plan will ensure trees are properly maintained ensure safety, provide ecological benefits, and make our public spaces beautiful," said Mayor Donna Deegan. "It will guide serve as a guide for the City’s Tree Commission to distribute the City’s Tree Fund for planting the right trees in the right places." Around this time last year, we were preparing to launch the Dallas Catalyst Project in a new neighborhood – Mill City. The Real Estate Council (TREC) members selected the neighborhood in an organization-wide vote following a year of vetting applications, neighborhoods, and projects vying to succeed the Forest District. In January, we commenced a multi-year, $1 million partnership with Mill City Community Association, Builders of Hope Community Development Corporation, and The Urban Specialists to: ??improve public safety ???create safe spaces for residents of all ages ???remediate outdated infrastructure ???make homeownership more accessible ??feed a food desert Following some initial hurdles, we’ve been able to make considerable progress in Year 1. TOMORROW MORNING (SATURDAY APRIL 20TH) at 10:30 AM our amazing Who I Am Foundation volunteers in #Albuquerque will be having our next Community Clean-Up (ABQ)! For this Community Clean-Up our volunteers will meet up at, and clean the neighborhood around Mesa Verde Community Center located at 7900 Marquette NE Albuquerque NM 87108 NO OPEN-TOED SHOES Cleaning up loose trash is one of the best ways to pitch in for your community and the environment. Volunteering as a means to help conserve and protect the environment has a lot of upsides. Of course, the first is that you’ll be taking care of our planet, and it badly needs a little love given the myriad ways in which we’ve become adept at destroying it. But beyond that, volunteering for a cause you care about is a great way to meet like-minded people, make friends, and pull yourself out of the blues that sometimes accompany caring a lot about something important – especially if you feel alone in your endeavors. None of us like the sight of litter. Litter spoils the look of where we live but that’s not the only reason for picking up litter. There are a number of benefits from picking up litter that you may not have considered before. Volunteer-led projects such as these are one of the quickest, simplest, and least expensive ways to inspire more community spirit and civic action. A visually appealing community increases property values, attracts businesses, and improves the neighborhood's image.
