Understanding the Connection Between King Charles and Australia: Australia’s relationship with the British monarchy, now represented by King Charles III, is a fascinating blend of history and modern governance. Let’s break it down: In 1788, Australia became a British colony, later evolving into a federation in 1901. While gaining self-governance, Australia continued to recognize the British monarch as head of state. As King of Australia, Charles III holds a symbolic position, with no direct political authority. His representation in Australia is through the Governor-General, who acts on the advice of the Australian Prime Minister and Parliament. Australia does not pay any taxes to King Charles, though ceremonial events involving the monarchy may use public funds. Governance and policy decisions are entirely made within Australia, highlighting its sovereignty. Today, Australia remains part of the Commonwealth, a voluntary association of nations tied by shared history. The monarchy reflects traditions and identity linked to Australia’s past, serving as both a cultural symbol and a reminder of its colonial heritage. Is Australia’s current relationship with the monarchy a reminder of history or a call for change? Should it stay or move toward becoming a republic? Share your thoughts. #Australia #Monarchy #KingCharles #History #Politics

Concerns about the so called "Safe Supply Drug" Program in BC: 1?? Toxicity of unregulated drug market remains unaddressed. 2?? Overdose deaths have not decreased, with 2,224 in BC in 2021. 3?? Public safety is at risk with increased public drug use. 4?? Lack of support services perpetuates addiction cycle. BC NDP/Liberal Premier David Eby's recent plans to recriminalize public drug use shows a shift in government stance. Due to his lack of support in the polls , his about face looks like its purely out of self interest & self preservation. Drastic measures for identifying & addressing root causes of addiction, ensuring public safety, and providing support services is needed. Let’s work together and oust the NDP/Liberal government coalition from BC and tell them NO MORE so called "Safe Supply" paid for by tax payers and recriminalize hard drugs. We need to tell the NDP/LIBERAL's to Stop poisoning our community, secondly stop acting like you didn't create the problem. Jagmeet Singh is POISONING our province and our country by supporting the Liberals. He can put a vote of no confidence at any given time, but instead he chooses to flood British Colombia with Hard Drugs to poison British Colombians.
MP for Carleton, Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada, and running to be Prime Minister of Canada

During this royal visit by King Charles and Queen Camilla, it's crucial to reflect on the ongoing impact of colonisation and the history that many of our people live with every day. While there are those who may view this visit as a momentous occasion, for many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, it serves as a reminder of the history of this land and the ongoing struggle for recognition and justice. Australia’s history is deeply intertwined with the arrival of the British Crown and the subsequent displacement, violence, and marginalisation faced by First Nations peoples. Sovereignty was never ceded, and the assertion of "Terra Nullius" disregarded the rich cultures, knowledge, and traditions that existed long before 1788. This land has always been, and always will be, Aboriginal land. The resilience and enduring sovereignty of First Nations people is a testament to our strength and resistance against forces that sought to erase us. It is this spirit of resilience that fuels the ongoing calls for truth-telling, treaty, and genuine reconciliation. It is vital to keep these truths at the forefront and continue pushing for justice, healing, and respect for our self-determination. This moment should inspire all Australians to engage in conversations about our shared history and advocate for change. Only through acknowledging the truth of our past and respecting the rights of First Nations people can we begin to create a future where we all stand on equal ground. #AlwaysWasAlwaysWillBe #SovereigntyNeverCeded #TruthTelling #SelfDetermination

November is Native American Heritage Month! During National Native American Heritage Month, we honor the history, rich cultures, and vast contributions of our Native peoples. We celebrate the hundreds of Tribal Nations that are ushering in a new era in our Nation-to-Nation relationships, tribal sovereignty and self-determination. Our Indigenous peoples’ history in the United States is defined by strength, survival, and a deep commitment and pride in our heritage, right to self-governance, and ways of life. Native people have built and sustained powerful Tribal Nations and indigenous knowledge. However, our Nation’s failed policies subjected generations of Native people to cruelty, violence, and intimidation. The Government forced removal of Native peoples from our homes and ancestral homelands; attempted to assimilate entire generations; and stripping of our tribal identities, cultures, and traditions are some of the darkest chapters of our Nation’s history. The trauma and turmoil fundamentally altered our tribal communities. We as Indigenous peoples have persisted and survived — a testament to our resilience. Today, Native communities are leading the way forward. We have long served in the United States military and currently serve in the highest levels of government. In every field and sector, Our Native people are pushing for progress and contributing to our shared prosperity. #indigenousknowledge #november #nativeamericanheritagemonth #wearestillhere

National Native American Heritage Month- November 2024 “During National Native American Heritage Month, we honor the history, rich cultures, and vast contributions of Native peoples. We celebrate the hundreds of Tribal Nations that are ushering in a new era in our Nation-to-Nation relationships. And we recommit to respecting Tribal sovereignty and self-determination and working in partnership with Tribal Nations to bring new prosperity and security to Native peoples. Indigenous peoples' history in the United States is defined by strength, survival, and a deep commitment to and pride in their heritage, right to self-governance, and ways of life. Native peoples have built and sustained powerful Tribal Nations, and the knowledge they developed still benefits us today. ?However, our Nation's failed policies of the past subjected generations of Native peoples to cruelty, violence, and intimidation. The forced removal of Native peoples from their homes and ancestral homelands; attempts to assimilate entire generations; and stripping of Indigenous peoples of their identities, cultures, and traditions are some of the darkest chapters of our Nation's history. The trauma and turmoil fundamentally altered their communities. Indigenous peoples have persisted and survived -- a testament to their resilience and resolve. Today, Native communities are leading the way forward and continuing to strengthen the fabric of the United States. They have long served in the United States military and currently serve in the highest levels of government -- including the Secretary of the Interior, Deb Haaland, America's first Native American Cabinet secretary. In every field and sector, Native peoples are pushing for progress and contributing to our shared prosperity.”
