A recent report by Independent Sector and United for ALICE reveals a troubling reality: over 20% of nonprofit workers in the U.S. struggle to afford basic living expenses. This issue is even more pronounced among workers of color, women, and people with disabilities. The report highlights the urgent need for systemic change to ensure fair compensation and support for those dedicated to civil society: https://lnkd.in/gv53S6bx. “We do think that anybody that dedicates their life in civil society should be able to take care of their monthly financial needs….Twenty-two percent of 13.9 million Americans is something we should all be very deeply troubled by.” - Akilah Watkins, President and CEO of Independent Sector ? What do you think we as nonprofit professionals can do to advocate for fair wages and better support for nonprofit workers? Let’s work together to build a just and equitable sector where everyone can thrive. ? #Nonprofit #FairWages #Equity #NonprofitProfessional #NonprofitAdvocacy #OCNPN #SystemicChange
Very informative
Many non profits utilize volunteers to help achieve their missions. We need to elevate the career of volunteer management so that it is respected and valued.
Funders must remember that the "overhead" we often hear complaints about is our livelihood. We should be compensated fairly if our skills are needed for our mission. None of us go into nonprofit work to be wealthy, but choosing a life of service to our community should not equate to choosing to live in crippling debt or poverty.
