This Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we're joining the National Resource Center on Domestic Violence's call for action: No Survivor Justice without Racial Justice. “We must work together to embrace the many cultural ways we can heal from violence and oppression, hold space for survivors, and center those most marginalized in all our efforts to end domestic violence.” Domestic violence is a pattern of behaviors used by one partner to maintain power and control over another partner in an intimate relationship. It can manifest as physical, emotional, financial abuse, and more. Domestic violence affects people of all ages, genders, races, and orientations. If you or someone you know needs help, please call our 24/7 Domestic Violence Hotline: 1-877-633-1112. All calls remain strictly confidential. Se Habla Espa?ol. If you are in immediate danger, please call or text 911 (call if you can, text if you can't). Join us in raising awareness and advocating for survivors throughout the month: https://lnkd.in/g36WDY-4 #DVAM2024 #EndDomesticViolence #SupportSurvivors #TakeAction #CommunitySupport

Domestic violence affects more individuals than you may realize. Many suffer in silence, too afraid to leave because of threats made against them and their loved ones. If you suspect someone is a victim of domestic violence, please reach out to them and offer your support. Perpetrators isolate their victims and lead them to believe that no one will be there for them. If you're in a situation where you need help getting out, talk to someone you trust, learn what resources are available, and make a plan. You deserve to be safe. ?? #DomesticViolenceAwareness #SeeSomethingSaySomething #AskForHelp

As Domestic Violence Awareness Month takes place in October, the National Resource Center on Domestic Violence?hopes we sustain the DVAM theme of??“Heal, Hold & Center”??throughout the year. HOLD To hold space is to be physically, mentally, and emotionally present for others. It is to listen respectfully, without judgement, so that others may feel cared for, understood, and seen. Holding space is simple, yet offers a powerful antidote to invisibility and isolation. Holding someone is an act of caring that can come in many forms beyond physical touch. The theme invites us to widen our embrace, including seniors and others we may not reach.
