Why is it important that seasoned professionals also show up at YoungShip events? We need your experience, interactions and possible offers of opportunities for advancement to keep encouraging the next generation. We need more maritime people and the best way to get them and keep them is showing what us veterans love about our industry and the family like relationships we make. "How does one get to be a charterer/broker/scheduler?" Come meet one and ask or even bond with a possible mentor who could help explain the paths to achieve your goal.

Yesterday was a day. ?? Some days are particular exciting, you know!? ?? Often just because there are developments or new opportunities land or whatever. ? We found out we are shortlisted in the last 2 companies for a large international project in 2025 that we pitched for. ? We were introduced to and now have a call lined up with the organiser of a huge global event happening in 2027. ? We were invited to pitch for 2 large events happening in the Middle East. One is quite short notice and the other is next year. ? We were introduced to the organisers of another event, whose first comment to us then was ‘when we saw your website we knew we wanted you to pitch for this’. (Well done Dermot and co. ??) ? Signed and returned an NDA so we can see documentation relating to a pitch process for a huge sporting event. ?? And those were all just developments / new stuff, let alone what we have on our plates here already. When i was progressing to my professional phase of life, from my academic phase, I always thought these events were just events for all those Flashy corporations who had all the fancy clientele aka Big guns! However, once I began visiting these events, I realised they were gold mines ready to be explored!!! In my opinion, apart from all the business agendas, partnerships and meet-ups these events offer, here are a few other aspects that I have learned. - You get to meet people from different nationalities. - You gain knowledge of different technologies and sectors. - You gain confidence by talking to other people around you. - You get a load of Souvenirs! (this one’s my favorite!) ?? P.S.
