This summer in the spirit of setting a good example for the kiddos, I'm diving into 2 books recommended by my friends Sean Swarner and Jeffery Acheson, CPWA? CFP? CPFA? AIF?, CEPA? NQPA? CAPP? "Being Unstoppable" and "Girls Without Limits". ? Both books emphasize the power of self-belief. Being Unstoppable equips you with the tools to overcome fear and build resilience, while Girls Without Limits offers guidance on nurturing confidence and a growth mindset in girls; both organizations behind the books focus on hope and improving the world we live in. ? Let's discuss! Have you read either of these books? Share your thoughts and comments below. #selfimprovement #summerreading #charities

The intention of this post is to shine a light on young female athletes (like Lili in the video below) striving to play professional sport; but first, some context. I’m blessed with 4 children, 2 boys and 2 girls, all of whom have played sport, 3 at youth representative level (football, futsal, cricket), and one who played semi professionally in NZ’s top ?? tier. I’ve coached girls and mixed teams, including a female U15 team to New Zealand Football's national futsal title. I’ve played competitive junior, youth and senior football, plus cricket, tennis, rugby, and Aussie Rules. I’m a fan of the Wellington Phoenix Football Club, Carlton Football Club, Warringah Rugby Club and along with all of that, I’ve been a lifelong fan of the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles. It’s heartwarming to see some of the players I’ve coached now playing for their National team and in professional ?? environments. I’d like to think somewhere along the way I had a positive influence. So, as a father of 2 daughters, a coach of female players, and as a fan of all sports, how good is it to see young Lili in the video? Lili is a northern beaches local, a fan of Manly Warringah Sea Eagles - and now a representative rugby league ?? player, chasing her field of dreams with the club she has supported all her life. I understand the sacrifices young athletes like Lili and their families make to chase a dream. It takes time, money, love, and the expertise of good coaches to provide holistic support around young athletes - to grow them to be good people. Only a small percentage will play professionally, but with the right mindset, the young person will have grown through the experience, whatever their eventual career. Manly Warringah Sea Eagles fans: you can help nurture the future of the club - by making a TAX DEDUCTIBLE DONATION to the Sea Eagles Foundation. Your donation supports the holistic life skills needed to see the +250 male and female teenage athletes in our representative pathways programs be the best human beings they can be. And who knows, maybe one day we will see young women like Lili running out on to 4 Pines Brewing Company Pty Ltd Park for Manly, at Brookie in a National Rugby League W game. Help nurture the next generation and watch them soar with the Sea Eagles. Donate now and get in touch if you want to discuss other ways to support the future of our club. #ManlySeaEagles #NextGen #Donate Minerva Network Kate Olgers GAICD Deana Candelori FCA Gabrielle Curtin Romilly Madew AO FTSE HonFIEAust EngExec Hanna Clare Julie Sibraa GAICD
For Lili, as a lifelong Manly fan, “it’s a privilege to put the jersey on, it doesn’t feel real.” Help make the dream of playing NRLW real - for Lili and other young women in the Sea Eagles pathways program. Teenage athletes in a high-performance sporting environment need lots of support. We coach technical skills, nutrition, prehab and rehab; but also mental resilience, education and employment, social skills and time management. These are the holistic life skills required to nurture the next generation of Sea Eagles. ? Lili is already a good young rugby league player. We aim to help Lili and our other young athletes be the best humans they can be, regardless of their eventual career paths. ? As a Sea Eagles fan, you can play your part. Help nurture the next generation by making a tax-deductible donation to the Sea Eagles Foundation. Watch them soar with the Sea Eagles. Monday motivation post!?? Understanding your personal values will help you identity the right people, places and opportunities to partake in. Prime example. Two years ago, I was asked to apply to the Dare To Be Youth Charity (DTBY) Board. That opportunity aligned with my values of: - Community and connection - Wellness and well-being - Creativity - Adventure - Authenticity The decision to join DTBY was a no brainer. From there, I have met fantastic people like some of our board members featured in the picture below. Shoutout to: Shannon M Tobin Karl Wulf Kyla Devereaux (she/her), CHRL, CTDP, ACC Megg Markettos Carolyne Rashford Moral of the story. Say “yes” to aligned people, places and things. And it’s also ok to say “no” to the opportunities that aren’t. Respecting your values doesn’t mean those other opportunities or people are bad or wrong. It just means they aren’t aligned with your direction at this point in time. And you know what, that’s ok!? #mondaymotivation #motivationmonday #leadership #leadershipinsights #dtby #board #charity #notforprofit #growthmind #personaldevelopment #professionaldevelopment #personalbeliefs #values #humanfirst

Martin has run the 10K for Include twice now, and is taking on the new challenge of a Half Marathon this year! He has taken some time out of his training to write a blog explaining why he runs for Include and why the work we do with people with communication difficulties is so important to him. Click here ?? https://bit.ly/3WJShID ?? to read Martin's story and find his fundraising link to support his run. #fundraising #charity #halfmarathon #support #communicationdifficulties #inclusionmatters #speechandlanguagetherapy #surrey [Image description: 2 images side by side. In the bottom right hand corner text says: "Run Reigate. Sunday 22 September 2024, Reigate Priory Park". Image 2: A green, orange, purple and blue border. The Include and Run Series logo at the bottom. How can we make young lives less stressful? I was reflecting on this question recently at a networking event with Kolisi Foundation and EMpower—The Emerging Markets Foundation. The word that entered my mind was ‘SAFETY’. When we think about young people in South Africa facing a multitude of challenges within the education system - it’s very stressful and especially at such a young age. And when young people are experiencing lots of stress at such a young age it makes learning and living a lot more challenging. Within their school, home and community environments having a good support structure and safety is key to seeing these young people flourish. Safety provides room to take a breath, to gain confidence, to feel loved, to be acknowledged and gain access to resources and quality learning. This all adds to a young person feeling less stressed. We have evidence of this model from stories of youth who have been part of our programmes. I’m grateful to be part of a team at The Sozo Foundation that at the core focuses on providing safe spaces for youth in Vrygrond and surrounds. I do believe that everything else flows from there and that we will, with time, see more youth stay in school and finish high school successfully. #educationmatters #safespaces #reducedropouts

??? #AutismAwareness Top 36 Golf Course Rankings: Post 24 - Course #13?? ?? ?? DONATE - Please help us get there by donating $36 today: https://lnkd.in/e4MFcQfd To represent the 1 in 36 kids affected by Autism in the US, I will be counting down my Top 36 Golf Courses that I have ever played with a short story/memory for each. If you could please consider donating $36 (or more) to Els for Autism via the link above, I would appreciate it ?? Golf Course #13 - Yeamans Hall Club Is it possible to capture the beauty, history, and vibe of an entire state into a single golf course? For the state of South Carolina, I believe Yeamans Hall does just that. Sitting just 12 miles from downtown Charleston and designed by one of my favorites, Seth Raynor, in 1924, Yeamans Hall sits on land that used to be the site of a 17th century plantation owned by the Yeamans family. When the country club was founded, it was built to attract wealthy northern financial men to Charleston in the fall and winter with 200-300 house sites. Today, it continues to be a successful private club with what I imagine to be one of the toughest waiting lists to add your name to in the country. What makes Yeamans Hall my favorite in South Carolina? People have asked me when making this list what criteria I’ve used, and it really comes down to three things: 1) The feeling you have when playing it, 2) How well you can remember each hole after the round, and 3) How badly you want to tee it up again on #1 after tapping in on #18. Maybe I’m biased because I grew up in SC, but for me, I’ve never played a course which puts me in a calmer/happier mental state and one where I want to tee it up again on #1 after I’m finished than Yeamans. It’s just such a fun course to play! If you have had the pleasure of playing it, I’m curious to hear if you enjoyed it as much as me ??
