A Mississippi Community Health Center plan to address obesity was recently included in a national implementation guide. The National Association of Community Health Center's new FHWP Implementation Guide shares insights from three health centers that have integrated evidence-based FHWP into the care of their families and have witnessed significant improvements physical, socioemotional, and behavioral outcomes for those families. It’s designed to help other health centers do this work, avoid pain points, and set themselves and their families up for success. Quality of life of people living with chronic hepatitis B: The role of social support system – [PLOS Global Public Health] ??The physical, social and mental impacts of living with hepatitis B significantly affect the quality of life of PLCHB, calling for more research to document these impacts, and design integrated care models to address them. Social support can play an important role for PLCHB, and more studies are needed to explore this, and to consider ways to improve social support for PLCHB worldwide. Strategies should engage healthcare providers, families and caregivers, and patient organizations. Ultimately, this will improve the health and wellbeing of PLCHB. ???? This week, June 10-16, is Men's Health Week! At ACESWorld, we work to promote health equity through many of our projects. While there are many issues for women in #healthequity, health equity is also an issue for men! Men generally report poorer health outcomes than women across many indicators. This includes heart disease, cancer, lung disease, stroke, and diabetes. These #disparities can be multifaceted, influenced by factors like race, socioeconomic status, and cultural attitudes towards health and wellness. The #fact is that people battling obesity fight #social #stigma and #marginalization every day. This discrimination comes from their friends and families, coworkers, health care providers, and even their own minds. They're made to feel as though they should be able to choose to not have obesity and the fact that they cannot heal themselves is a personal failure. #Stopthestigma!
