?? Nurses, can we talk about this Nurse.org survey? I left bedside nursing back in 2015. And guess what I was asked over and over again? When are you going back to the hospital? My answer…NEVER! As an operating room nurse, for YEARS I worked 12 hour shifts, holidays, nights, weekends… And the hospital could not provide me with what I desired most…A WORK-LIFE BALANCE! And that’s exactly what I gave myself through legal nurse consulting. I was able to leave bedside nursing, and I’ve never looked back! If you’re like me, you understand the true value of your nursing knowledge, and you’re no longer willing to settle in life. Because the truth is you ABSOLUTELY can have financial peace and a work-life balance in nursing! Whether you’re desiring to drop a shift, go PRN, or leave bedside nursing altogether, we can help you achieve your goal through Legal Nurse Secrets! Check out www.legalnursesecrets.com
I recently worked at a hospital that required nurses to work at "stretch staffing" ratios, do primary care, transport patients around the hospital, and receive low pay. If this is the state of the nursing workflow in the workforce, I can understand the "other" category. How have profits and metrics superseded adequate staffing and proper patient care? It is disheartening and infuriating. After completing a degree in informatics and receiving a few tech certifications, I have joined the "others" category.
I will be honest… I don’t blame them for leaving the bed side. They have to go through so much physical, mental, and emotional stress, trauma, and pain it is unbelievable. For everything they go through being front line staff the pay sucks.
I left bedside almost 2 years ago very early into my nursing career and I have no desire to go back bedside unless it’s as a Provider. Otherwise I prefer my M-F , holidays and weeekends off.
As a former ER/Trauma nurse…I feel this! Left the bedside in 2016. Best decision ever!
Abigail Stanley I left the bedside in 2016 and have been blazing trails like you ever since! ?? There are so many things we can do outside of the hospital or clinic setting... and I don't miss working nights, weekends or holidays!!! Thank you for sharing!
Can you explain what the "other" category is? It leaves me with a lot of questions.
I left bedside 3 months ago. Best decision I ever made. However, I am happy that I did 12years of bedside nursing for the experience and platform I needed to grow as a professional and a person.
