I've been playing golf in Sussex for the last 7/8 years - I'm very often the only POC on the course and almost always the only POC at any corporate golf event. Some of the 'incidents' I've experienced over that time on reflection have been outright racism (don't call me Tiger Woods please, its boring now). Last week was the first time I have ever played without that narrative (because I arranged it) and it poses a big question. Where’s the Diversity in Golf? Corporate Golf is often seen as a cornerstone of corporate networking, but the lack of diversity is an issue that many are reluctant to address. Whether it's gender, race, or socioeconomic background, golf and particularly corporate golf events, remain strikingly homogenous. To Businesses and Golf Clubs: What Are You Doing About It? In a time where Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion are at the forefront of corporate values, it’s astonishing to see such little progress in the world of golf. How can we promote inclusivity in the workplace but exclude it from the very spaces where business relationships are built? Are you actively creating initiatives to diversify participation?
