????’?? ?????? ?????? ???? ????????!?Beyond the fireworks and parades, it's the quiet hum of progress – the bridges that connect us, the roads that pave way for opportunities, and the power lines that fuel our dreams. These aren't just steel and concrete; they're the very arteries of our nation, a testament to generations of American ingenuity and collaboration. Reflecting on President Dwight D. Eisenhower’s vision, his establishment of the Interstate Highway System in 1956 set the stage for unprecedented growth and connectivity across the United States. This monumental commitment by the government not only revolutionized transportation but also catalyzed economic development and strengthened national unity. The Eisenhower government's foresight illustrates how policy and commitment can transform a nation, providing a blueprint for modern infrastructure advancements. As someone with a fulfilling career in infrastructure, the impact is undeniable. It's not just about creating jobs or boosting the economy – it's about weaving communities together, fostering a level playing field for all, and laying the groundwork for a future that matters. But this future demands not just investment, but vision. We need smarter, more sustainable systems that not only stand strong but tread lightly. It's time to harness innovation, embrace clean energy solutions, and build infrastructure that benefits all. This 4th of July, let's celebrate the spirit of progress that built this nation and recommit to enabling an even more remarkable future, together. There are incredible initiatives underway, and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law will help to improve the grade in the coming years. Learn more, get involved, and be a part of shaping a stronger, more sustainable future that we continue to build and bolster. Personally, this is the most exciting time in my career. We are witnessing a renaissance in infrastructure, driven by innovative technologies and a renewed commitment to sustainability. It's a privilege to be part of this transformative era, working alongside dedicated professionals to create systems that will benefit generations to come. Together, we are not just building infrastructure; we are building the future. ?????????? ?????? ???? ???????? ???? ?????? ?????? ??????????????????!??? #FourthofJuly #BuildingTheFuture #infrastructure Image credit: https://lnkd.in/gPGzkqkq

There was a really interesting set of documents published recently by the European Commission's Expert Group on Urban Mobility. A comprehensive study of the mobility interventions needed to support the path to net zero; the development of more sustainable places and the growth of more vibrant economies. Decarbonising public transport is one of the key recommendations and highlights the investment there will need to be in high quality innovation of new technologies and new infrastructure. As a site for world class innovation - and Europe's only purpose-built site for rail infrastructure testing - the Global Centre Of Rail Excellence will be an important platform at which to help drive forward rail and mobility innovation. Public consultation shows strong local support to extend DLR in East London. Transport for London's (TfL) public consultation on plans to extend the DLR to Beckton Riverside and Thamesmead show the majority of respondents are supportive. Work will now progress on developing the business case. Extending the DLR, says TfL, would support low-carbon developments in Thamesmead and Beckton Riverside, unlocking the delivery of up to 30,000 new homes along the extended route Investment in this scheme would also support a UK-wide supply chain, supporting growth and job creation across the country. According to the newly published consultation report on a cross-river extension of the DLR from Gallions Reach to Thamesmead, via Beckton Riverside, 58% of respondents said the extension would make their journeys quicker around their local area and 75% said it would make journeys into wider east and southeast London easier. The consultation, launched earlier this year, received 1,254 responses from members of the public and 29 from a range of stakeholders including pan-London transport user groups, local businesses, environmental groups, politicians and adjacent boroughs. In addition to the consultation, TfL ran sample polling in locations in Beckton, Gallions Reach, Thamesmead and Abbey Wood where 85% supported or strongly supported the proposals. A new DLR station would be built at Beckton Riverside, with a tunnel built under the River Thames linked to another new DLR station at Thamesmead. It would build on experience from 2009 when the DLR was extended to Woolwich Arsenal, tunnelling beneath the River Thames, with housing growth following in areas including Woolwich, Canning Town, and the Royal Docks... #InfrastructureInvestments help drive #economicdevelopment, #competitivestanding, and #qualityoflife.
Earlier this year, I had the privilege of moderating a roundtable discussion at the United States Conference of Mayors Washington D.C. meeting titled?"Empowering Resilient Communities: Infrastructure Projects Fueling Real Results." I was proud to be joined by Cleveland Mayor Justin M. Bibb, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, St. Louis Mayor Tishaura Jones, Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas, and Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker. Infrastructure advocacy has been a common thread in my career, from my years in local government as Chief of Staff to Mayor Dyer, to my federal service at the U.S. Department of Transportation (Federal Aviation Administration and Federal Railroad Administration), to now working for a technology company, SiemensUSA. And what I heard from the mayors during the roundtable has shaped my thinking for 2024 when it comes to this powerful moment for American infrastructure, as a trifecta of federal legislation and additional funding programs shift us from advocacy to implementation.
