During my HRD Corp certification, I had the opportunity to dive into Training Needs Analysis (TNA), a critical process that helps organizations identify gaps between the current and desired knowledge, skills, and abilities of their employees. The insights gained from a TNA offer a strategic overview of an organization’s learning and development priorities, highlighting areas that need improvement to boost overall performance. Essentially, it enables companies to pinpoint where employees may be lacking in the knowledge or skills necessary to achieve business goals, which is key to creating targeted and effective development plans. TNA not only aids in designing tailored learning and development initiatives for current employees, but it also plays a crucial role in recruitment. Yesterday we held our demystifying upgrading session with experienced CIPD upgrading assessor, Melanie Taylor. ?? There were lots of questions and to mix things up a bit we invited Stuart Cranswick, Chartered FCIPD, who leads our strategic workforce planning (SWP) SIG for the branch, to share his experiences of upgrading. Make sure that your experience is relevant and consistently demonstrated over a period of time ?? Make sure that you can demonstrate the impact of your contribution ?? Read the candidate guidance on the website, including preparing your examples. Plan time in to do this ?? Listen to what you are asked and focus (60 minutes isn’t a long time) ?? Provide people and business metrics - show the impact on the business and your commercial awareness ??♀? Take advantage of CIPD’s support routes ??
