Here's your checklist to be #VoteReady: ? Verify your voter registration status ? Confirm your polling location ? Review your voting ID requirements ? Choose your voting method (mail-in, early voting, or election day) ? Request time off if needed Whether you choose to vote by mail like I did, or prefer to vote in person, having a plan makes it easier to participate in our democratic process. Your voice matters! I saw a headline yesterday about multiple mail in ballot drop boxes set on fire in Washington & Oregon, one of those drop boxes was in one of the largest cities in Washington in one of the closest congressional races in the country right now. Voter Suppression is nothing new. As a Black American woman, I am very aware of the threats to democracy that exist against marginalized communities. With the voting rights act gutted under a conservative supreme court via the Shelby v Holder decision in 2013, we as voting citizens must be diligent about protecting our right to vote since the constitutional protection that once regulated states no longer is applicable. I know we would all like to believe that voter suppression is a tactic of the past relegated to the jim crow south. However with the rise of social media and the rapid pace at which harmful rhetoric about people with liberal/ progressive views and people of color has the ability to spread we have to be our own advocates in ensuring our voices are heard. Right now Early voting is happening all across the country. I encourage everyone if you have not gone and voted yet, please go out and vote early. If you don't know where to go to vote you can visit https://lnkd.in/dNsqFhb9 to find out where you can early vote, see whats on your ballot & build your plan to early vote. In my most recent episode of Convos with Corryn I dive into voter suppression. From the post-Emancipation struggles of newly freed Black Americans to today’s voter ID laws and polling place closures, the tactics to block marginalized communities from voting. have been relentless – but so has the fight for justice. This election cycle, it’s crucial to understand the challenges and know how to make your voice count.?Check out my youtube video for more: https://lnkd.in/duFksmvv #VoterSuppression #VotingRights #ProtectOurVote #YourVoteMatters #YouthVote #MakeAPlanToVote #EveryVoteCounts #FightForOurRights #CivicEngagement #VoterAwareness #DemocracyInAction #VotingIsPower #DefendDemocracy #FutureCoalition #ConvosWithCorryn #HistoryOfVoting #VoterEducation #Vote2024

Tired of political talk, slander, and hype? Same. Sick of the anger and hate and fear being fed to us daily? ?? Here are the 3 things I'm doing to get through the next 3 weeks: 1. Control the doomscroll - limiting my news checks to once or twice per day. 2. Breathe fresh air - getting outside for walks and saying hi to my neighbors (regardless of whether our yard signs agree) while I'm out there. 3. Check in - making sure my family and friends know the options for voting. We the People have the power of our ballots. It's time to use it.
In 2022, just half of registered voters fulfilled their civic duty to vote. This year, make sure to use your voice and vote in all local, State, and Federal races on the ballot.
