With today’s youth facing a growing mental health crisis, nurse practitioners (NPs) are stepping up to provide much-needed support in schools. Educators often spot early warning signs, but without the right training, they may struggle to respond effectively. NPs can partner with school staff to provide mental health education, validated screening tools, and crisis response strategies to ensure students receive the care they need. By working together, teachers, school counselors, and NPs can create a streamlined process to identify and support at-risk students. ?? But what about schools with limited resources? NPs can expand access through school-based telehealth programs, allowing students to connect with medical professionals remotely—especially in underserved areas. Collaborations with nonprofits and universities can also help fill the gap by bringing additional mental health resources into schools. It’s time to ensure every student has the support they need. ??
