The 10/10/80 Rule of Agency Recruiting BD… 10% of companies are urgent to hire - will pay whatever is needed to land talent, no worries about recruiting fees, quality salaries, sign-ons, move fast, and make it happen (trees with low hanging fruit) 10% of companies are never hiring - can’t stand recruiters, think we’re the reason socks go missing in the dryer, we’re the scum of the earth, and are better off on an island with no communication with the outside world (trees with no fruit at all) 80% of companies are somewhere in the middle - they might be hiring opportunistically, they might not be, but a good candidate will generally grab their attention to at least open a door for now or maybe in the future; regardless, relationships are possible (trees that may or may not have fruit, but need to be shaken) ***the 80% group is your margin, being able to attack that is the difference between not making it / scraping by and thriving / making it rain*** The recruiters who win in this game, have BD approaches which attack the 10% yes companies AND the 80% maybe companies at the same time.
