Ivan Zhao’s success with Notion is impressive, but let's not get lost in the romanticized idea of "ancient philosophy" driving a $10 billion company. The reality is, building a billion-dollar startup is far more about timing, scalability, and leveraging market trends than it is about following nature’s "perfect system." Sure, Zhao’s approach might sound poetic, but it glosses over the harsh truths of navigating competition, tech debt, and growth pains. While the "natural" approach is a nice narrative, let’s not pretend it’s the secret sauce behind everything that works in businessstrategy and execution still reign supreme.
This is a perfect example of what philosophical fundamentals can achieve in enterprise and I am pioneering this work in #thephilosophicalenterprise. I have been using Notion as a case study to demonstrate this long before Notion was the success that it is today.
