Our bodies hold the stories of our past and the possibilities of our future. By scanning our bodies, we can recognize and release tension, connecting with the sensations of the present moment. Body scanning helps to bring awareness to bodily sensations, which can often be neglected in our fast-paced lives. When we tune into our bodies, we can identify areas of tension and release them. We can recognize and acknowledge any areas of pain rather than ignoring them. This increased body awareness promotes a sense of grounding and presence. Try this: Lie down comfortably and close your eyes. Bring your attention to your feet. Notice any sensations. Gradually move your awareness up your body from your feet to your head, paying attention to each part along the way.
