Once you become an author, you get to ask the question: what can your book do for you, your brand, and your business—your life!? Answer? So much!
I thought I'd make a stop on our journey to talk about possibilities—the obvious ones and those that might not immediately occur to you. Hopefully this helps you to pull back your lens and see the bigger picture in a fun way!
- The usual. :) As the subtitle in ?You Must Write a Book?
says, Boost Your Brand, Get More Business, and Become the Go To Expert. Your book does all of those things—your brand is elevated and becomes more recognizable. You will, without a doubt, generate more clients and customers (sometimes on the spot—handing someone your book works!). And, last and best, you will become the expert in your space.
- But wait, there's more! :)
- You'll be able to expand your business with other products and/or services. Maybe you want more coaching or speaking engagements. What if you created a course? Certification? Started consulting?
- Collaborations! I've gotten to do so many fun collaborations since becoming an author. I've consulted with founders in new business ventures, helped authors write their keynote presentations and book their first gig, and of course, ?written an entire series?
for writers with my author buddy (and book description copywriter) Brian D. Meeks.
- Connections . . . Wait until you get an email or call from someone who has read your book and they want to talk with you, work with you, or get to know you better. All so cool. I've made amazing friends because I've written books. A book is an incredible connector, both from a personal and a business standpoint. Speaking of business relationships, Lucas Marino and I did ?this video?
about them.
- Impact. Maybe the best of the list: hearing that your words have enhanced or changed someone's life for the better.
- What else? Gosh, I'm not sure what magic will happen because someone picks up your book, is given a copy by a trusted friend, or buys it because an online retailer suggests it. The ideas, experiences, and so much more are un-knowable right now.
What do you want from your book? You can have anything or everything from the list above—and I hope you get everything you want! I hope you're inspired to write, I know I am!
