Finding the right staff is crucial for any business. When it comes to hiring, I focus on character rather than just skills. It's not about what they can do, but who they are as a person. ????? In my line of work, we have a lot of applicants, but only a few stand out. It's interesting to see how many people apply for nursing positions or want to work in assisted living facilities. ?????? But what sets someone apart? What makes me think, "This person will last a long time"? It's all about their character and good characteristics. ?? I don't judge people based on their past or what happened to them. Instead, I look for qualities that show resilience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help others. ?????? On the other hand, there are red flags that make me think, "This person won't last long." It could be a lack of integrity, a negative attitude, or a lack of commitment. These are all signs that someone may not be the right fit for our team. ?? Skills can be taught, but character is something that comes from within. It's what sets apart those who are truly dedicated to their work and those who are just looking for a paycheck. ???? The activities completed are in accordance with agency policies and procedures, federal, state, and local laws, accreditation standards, and other regulatory guidelines. Incumbent in this position demonstrates sensitivity to the service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics. Duties & Responsibilities: Outreach: Assist in the development and execution of outreach plans and recruitment activities to engage families in the community who are eligible and willing to participate in the program Establish and cultivate strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders Develop and maintain partnerships with employers, staffing agencies, and other sources related to employment Create innovative approaches to promote agency services in the community Maintain a comprehensive list of community service providers and potential employers Document outreach activities and efforts Intake: Screen individuals to determine program eligibility Coordinate intake activities with consumers to gather information necessary to identify critical service needs and/or determine when a more intensive service is necessary Provide placement on a waiting list or referral to appropriate resources when individuals cannot be served or cannot be served promptly Ensure intake documentation is gathered and completed timely and accurately Enter intake information into agency and funding source databases within required timeframes Create consumer file Case Management: Manage caseload as assigned Conduct assessments that are individualized, culturally and linguistically responsive, and completed within established timeframe Develop an individualized assessment-based plan in a timely manner with the full participation of consumer(s) Coordinate service delivery with other community providers, bridging service gaps Ensure consumers receive the appropriate advocacy support Assist with access to the full array of services to which consumers are eligible for Mediate barriers to services Assist individuals and families with the completion of SNAP applications, as applicable Provide employment preparedness activities including but not limited to; job searches, resume writing, and interview skills Conduct at minimum quarterly reviews to assess service plan implementation, progress toward achieving goals, and desired outcomes; and the continuing appropriateness of the agreed upon service goals Collectively review with the consumer progress toward achievement of agreed upon service goals Support consumer in the timely completion of service plan goals Complet

How do you assess attention to detail in the hiring process? 12 years ago, while running my very first Vector office in Conroe, TX, I needed to hire Recruiting Assistants/Receptionists. One of the main duties required being able to read a script and follow clear directions. As I made my job post, I added very specific instructions: - Apply to the job post (READ CAREFULLY) - Call my google number at XXX-XXX-XXXX - Leave a voicemail stating your name and phone number TWO TIMES From there, it was very easy to narrow my candidate pool. Today, I do something a little similar and add "If interested, please reach out to me at (email address) with (Job Title) in the subject line." It's a small thing, but with hundreds of applicants applying each week, prioritizing those who follow direction makes my job a little easier.
