Congrats to economic team at the City of Phoenix on leading the urban areas with new industrial space! Honorable mention goes to City of Savannah, City of Austin City of Dallas and City of Kansas City, MO It includes Lucid’s electric vehicle plant expansion in Casa Grande, distribution centers in Buckeye and Goodyear, and an industrial park bordered by Luke Air Force Base in Glendale. Because some space is being built without confirmed tenants, a slowdown in new construction is expected to continue until buildings fill up. The report by real estate listing service Commercial Search says construction starts in metro Phoenix were down 8% in June compared to January. I'm a little bit late posting this but I'm very excited to say that this week we launched The Engineers Reuse Collective! ????? Our team at Buro Happold have joined forces with Civic Engineers, Elliott Wood, Heyne Tillett Steel, Webb Yates Engineers and Whitby Wood to launch The Engineers Reuse Collective (tERC) — a not-for-profit initiative focused on accelerating the reuse of materials in the built environment, with the goal of achieving a Net Zero Carbon future. The first of its kind, our collective is supported by The Institution of Structural Engineers. Through knowledge-sharing, roadmap production, advocacy and collaboration, we’re working to remove barriers and push for industry-wide adoption of the circular economy. The built environment industry contributes around 25% of the UK's carbon emissions, with embodied carbon making up a significant portion of this figure. By championing reuse and circular economy principles, tERC aims to drastically reduce carbon emissions while promoting sustainable practices across the sector. ?? Erica Donnelly, AIA, IIDA, LEED AP EBOM is an architect with design firm PGAL, which has a branch in Alexandria, Virginia. The branch has a focus on aviation architecture, and for more than 35 years, has been part of many design projects at Reagan National and Dulles International airports. She’s most proud of the work she did at Reagan National’s new North Concourse, which opened in 2021.
